Job Description:

Risk Management & Site Inspections

• Hazard Identification: Conduct routine site inspections and comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards before they lead to incidents.

• Corrective Action: Implement immediate and long-term corrective measures for identified safety gaps.

• Equipment Oversight: Oversee pre-use checklists and inspections for Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and industrial machinery.

Compliance & Incident Investigation

• Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all operations adhere to Nigerian HSE regulations and ISO-aligned safety policies.

• Root-Cause Analysis: Promptly investigate accidents, near-misses, or incidents; perform detailed root-cause analysis and develop preventative action plans to stop recurrences.

• Documentation: Maintain organized incident logs, inspection checklists, safety bulletins, and statutory records.

Training & Emergency Preparedness

• Safety Culture: Deliver regular HSE briefings, "Toolbox Talks," and safety inductions for new and existing warehouse and construction staff.

• Emergency Response: Design and lead emergency protocols for fire outbreaks, chemical spills, or medical emergencies. Coordinate and facilitate regular drills.

• PPE Enforcement: Ensure strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols across all departments.

Environmental Stewardship & Improvement

• Environmental Impact: Oversee waste management, spill control, and general housekeeping to minimize the facility’s environmental footprint.

• Performance Metrics: Track key HSE metrics (e.g., Lost Time Injury Frequency) and collaborate with management to continuously enhance safety procedures.

Requirements:

• Analytical Thinking: Sharp attention to detail with the ability to spot subtle risks in a busy environment.

• Leadership: Ability to enforce safety protocols firmly but professionally with staff at all levels.

• Problem Solving: Quick-thinking during emergencies and structured during incident investigations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on HSE experience in a warehouse, construction, or industrial/manufacturing setting.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Nigerian HSE regulations and IOSH/NEBOSH/ISO requirements.

• Communication: Exceptional training, public speaking, and technical report-writing skills.
