Job Description:
We are seeking a methodical and detail-oriented Pharmacy Procurement Support officer to join our operations in Ilupeju, Lagos. In the healthcare sector, the procurement function is the first line of defense in ensuring medication availability and patient safety.
Your mission is to provide seamless operational support to the procurement team, managing the delicate balance of lead times, vendor relationships, and stock levels. You will act as the bridge between pharmaceutical suppliers and our inventory systems. If you have 1–3 years of experience and a foundational understanding of pharmaceutical supply chains, we invite you to anchor our procurement efforts.
Requirements:
1. Operational Sourcing & Order Support
Purchase Order Lifecycle: Assist in the generation and tracking of Purchase Orders (POs), ensuring all requests are processed and delivered according to pharmacy requirements.
Vendor Coordination: Maintain professional relationships with pharmaceutical distributors and manufacturers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Market Monitoring: Assist in tracking price fluctuations of essential drugs and medical supplies to help optimize procurement spending.
2. Inventory Governance & Quality Control
Stock Synchronization: Monitor inventory levels to identify reorder points, preventing "stock-outs" of critical medications and overstocking of slow-moving items.
Cold Chain & Storage Awareness: Ensure that procured items requiring specialized storage (such as vaccines or insulin) are prioritized during the receiving process.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain surgical accuracy in record-keeping, ensuring all procurement files meet regulatory standards and are ready for audit.
3. Data Management & Reporting
Database Maintenance: Update the procurement database with accurate pricing, vendor details, and product specifications.
Performance Tracking: Prepare basic reports on supplier lead times, delivery accuracy, and fulfillment rates to assist the Procurement Manager in decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: HND or B.Sc. in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Business Administration.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in procurement, specifically within a pharmacy, hospital, or healthcare environment.
Technical IQ: Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical product categories and healthcare supply chain dynamics.
Core Competencies
Attention to Detail: Meticulous record-keeping skills to ensure every tablet and vial is accounted for.
Numerical Literacy: Ability to manage price lists, discounts, and quantity reconciliations accurately.
Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple vendor communications and order statuses simultaneously.
Integrity: A high sense of responsibility regarding the sourcing of authentic and high-quality medical supplies.
