Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Procurement & Sourcing Officer to anchor our food supply chain operations. This is a critical role responsible for bridging the gap between local farms/markets and our high-demand restaurant and retail customers.
You will be the architect of our "Farm-to-Table" strategy—responsible for securing high-quality foodstuffs at competitive prices while maintaining a lean, zero-waste inventory. If you are a negotiator who understands the nuances of Nigerian commodity pricing, possesses a "safety-first" mindset regarding food standards, and can navigate both the boardroom and the local market, we want you on our team.
Requirements:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Market Intelligence
Direct Sourcing: Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure a 100% continuous supply of fresh produce and dry goods.
Vendor Ecosystem: Identify, vet, and negotiate with local farmers and wholesalers to secure favorable contracts and pricing.
Trend Analysis: Monitor seasonal price fluctuations and market conditions in Nigeria to optimize "buy-ahead" decisions and hedge against inflation.
2. Quality Governance & Spoilage Control
Inventory Integrity: Collaborate with warehouse teams to manage stock levels, utilizing demand forecasting to maintain a high Stock Turnover Rate.
Waste Mitigation: Implement storage planning and handling protocols to minimize spoilage and wastage, directly impacting the company’s bottom line.
Standards Compliance: Ensure every item procured meets national food safety standards and the company’s internal quality benchmarks.
3. Cost Management & Vendor Relations
Financial Stewardship: Manage procurement budgets and track performance against KPIs, focusing on measurable cost savings without compromising quality.
Performance Audits: Regularly evaluate supplier reliability based on delivery speed, product consistency, and compliance.
Process Optimization: Streamline procurement workflows and utilize ERP/Software tools to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
Experience: 2–5 years in food procurement, preferably in FMCG, Agriculture, or Food Distribution.
Linguistic Asset: Ability to speak Hausa is a significant advantage for navigating major northern commodity markets.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with procurement software/ERP systems and professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is highly valued.
Core Competencies
Negotiation Mastery: Proven ability to drive value in high-volume, high-frequency transactions.
Local Market IQ: Deep knowledge of Nigerian food markets and commodity pricing dynamics.
Operational Grit: Ability to balance office-based strategy with regular fieldwork, including visits to farms and local markets.
