About Company:
BGE (Nigeria) Solar FZE is a leading enterprise in the new energy photovoltaic cell industry, committed to driving sustainable development and innovation. As we expand our global footprint, we are seeking exceptional local talent in Nigeria to join our dynamic team.
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Customs Clearance & Logistics Coordinator to manage the end-to-end cargo clearance process for our Nigerian operations. In this role, you will be the primary liaison between our Chinese headquarters, local logistics providers, and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Your mission is to ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian trade regulations while maintaining high clearance velocity. The ideal candidate is a Nigerian citizen with a deep understanding of the PAAR (Pre-Arrival Assessment Report) process and the ability to navigate the complexities of port inspections. If you are a problem-solver who can maintain rigorous documentation and handle high-pressure customs scenarios, we want you on our team.
Requirements:
1. Customs Operations & Compliance Management
End-to-End Execution: Take full ownership of the cargo clearance lifecycle, from pre-arrival documentation to final release, ensuring all statutory requirements are met to avoid risks and delays.
Document Integrity: Organize and verify the accuracy of critical trade documents, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, and Form M.
Inspection Liaison: Directly assist in physical inspections and customs declaration procedures, providing technical support to resolve queries on valuation or classification.
2. Tracking, Problem Solving & Logistics Docking
Real-time Monitoring: Track shipment progress through the Nigeria Single Window Trade Portal and provide immediate feedback to the team regarding any "abnormal" situations or holds.
Cross-Border Coordination: Act as the primary technical bridge for our Chinese team, ensuring data filing and logistics docking are synchronized between the origin and destination.
Issue Resolution: Proactively coordinate the provision of supplementary documents or technical clarifications required during customs queries to prevent demurrage accumulation.
3. Relationship Management & Policy Intelligence
Strategic Partnerships: Maintain professional relationships with local customs officials and logistics providers to facilitate smoother operational flows.
Regulatory Intelligence: Stay updated on the latest circulars from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Ministry of Finance regarding import/export policies to optimize our clearance strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen.
Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience in Nigerian customs clearance and logistics. Familiarity with the Apapa/Tin Can Port operations or Airport Cargo is highly preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficient in handling customs documentation and basic trade finance instruments.
Core Competencies
Language Skills: Proficient in English (Reading/Writing). The ability to speak or understand Chinese (Mandarin) is a significant advantage.
Analytical Thinking: Rigorous attention to detail—specifically in identifying discrepancies in shipping manifests or invoices.
Agility: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively to sudden customs "Red Alerts" or inspection challenges.
