Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and compliance-driven Import & Export Logistics Officer to manage our global supply chain operations. Based in our Lekki office, you will be the primary architect of our international trade flow, ensuring that goods move across borders efficiently, legally, and cost-effectively.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can navigate the intricacies of Nigerian Customs, international freight forwarding, and trade documentation. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of shipments—from calculating landed costs and managing clearing agents to securing export licenses and booking cargo space. If you have a "zero-delay" mindset and deep knowledge of maritime and air freight logistics, we invite you to lead our trade operations.
Requirements:
1. Import Operations & Customs Governance
Documentation Mastery: Review and prepare all essential import documents ($Bill\ of\ Lading$, $Form\ M$, $PAAR$, Commercial Invoices, and Packing Lists) to ensure 100% compliance with local regulations.
Clearing & Liaison: Coordinate closely with customs brokers and clearing agents to expedite the release of cargo and minimize terminal storage charges.
Cost Engineering: Calculate accurate Landed Costs (inclusive of freight, duties, insurance, and local handling) to support procurement and pricing strategies.
2. Export Strategy & Global Distribution
Compliance & Licensing: Manage export declarations, Certificates of Origin, and specialized inspection requirements (e.g., NXP, NAFDAC, or NEPC permits).
Freight Management: Book cargo space with shipping lines or airlines, optimizing for both lead time and cost efficiency.
Tracking & Visibility: Monitor outbound shipments from container loading to final port delivery, providing real-time status updates to international partners.
3. Risk Mitigation & Trade Compliance
Demurrage Control: Implement proactive strategies to avoid demurrage and detention charges through timely documentation and agent follow-up.
Regulatory Intelligence: Stay updated on shifting international trade policies, $Incoterms\ 2020$, and Nigerian trade circulars to ensure the business remains compliant.
Supplier Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for international suppliers and freight forwarders, resolving shipping discrepancies and delays swiftly.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Experience: Proven experience in Import/Export logistics, specifically within the Nigerian maritime or aviation landscape.
Technical IQ: Deep understanding of Customs Procedure Codes, Incoterms, and the Single Window/Trade Portal.
Financial Literacy: Ability to compare freight quotations and perform complex landed cost calculations.
Core Competencies
Analytical Precision: High attention to detail in reviewing shipping documents to avoid costly customs penalties.
Communication: Strong negotiation and liaison skills to manage clearing agents and shipping lines.
