Job Description:
We are seeking a disciplined and proactive Fleet / Logistics Officer to take full ownership of our truck operations. This is a critical role in our supply chain, requiring a leader who can manage the complex logistics of the Apapa/Mile 2 axis—optimizing routes, ensuring vehicle roadworthiness, and maintaining a high-performing driver pool.
Your mission is to ensure that our fleet is not just moving, but moving efficiently and safely. You will be responsible for everything from fuel cost optimization and GPS monitoring to driver discipline and regulatory compliance. If you have 2–4 years of experience in truck-focused logistics and deep knowledge of Lagos road networks, we invite you to drive our operational excellence.
Requirements:
1. Fleet Maintenance & Compliance
Technical Assurance: Ensure all trucks are roadworthy through a rigorous preventive maintenance schedule.
Documentation & Licensing: Maintain 100% compliance with vehicle licensing, insurance, and state/federal road regulations (FRSC, VIO, etc.).
Asset Integrity: Monitor vehicle running costs and handle breakdowns or accidents with documented incident reports and swift resolution.
2. Driver & Route Management
Operational Planning: Design and schedule routes that bypass Lagos congestion where possible to meet strict delivery timelines.
Driver Governance: Supervise driver attendance and conduct, ensuring adherence to the company’s code of ethics and safety standards.
GPS Monitoring: Utilize tracking systems to monitor driver behavior, unauthorized stops, and mileage accuracy in real-time.
3. Cost Control & Reporting
Fuel Stewardship: Track fuel consumption against mileage to identify anomalies, waste, or theft.
Operational Analytics: Prepare daily and monthly reports using MS Excel to provide visibility into fleet downtime, running costs, and delivery performance.
Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for field drivers, resolving conflicts and providing clear instructions under pressure.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: OND / HND / B.Sc. in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 2–4 years of proven experience specifically in truck-focused fleet operations.
Regional Knowledge: Expert knowledge of Lagos road networks, particularly port-adjacent routes.
Residency: Mandatory residence in or around the Amuwo-Odofin / Apapa / Mile 2 axis to ensure proximity to operations.
Core Competencies
Technical Basics: Fundamental understanding of heavy-duty vehicle mechanics and maintenance.
Tech Savvy: Proficient in MS Excel and familiar with GPS tracking software and basic fleet management systems.
Leadership: Strong organizational and communication skills with a proven ability to supervise and discipline truck drivers effectively.
