About Company:

Garena is a leading global online games developer and publisher. Free Fire, its self-developed mobile battle royale title, is the most downloaded mobile game in its genre for six consecutive years, according to Sensor Tower App Performance Insights. The title was also the world’s most downloaded mobile game in 2019, 2021, and again in 2023 and 2024.

Job Description:

As a KOL & Community Specialist, you will be the architect of Free Fire’s social and creator ecosystem across the Sub-Saharan African (SSA) region. This is a high-impact, 6-month remote contract based in Nigeria, designed for a specialist who understands that gaming in SSA is driven by local relevance, youth culture, and grassroots passion. You will act as the vital bridge between our publishing team and thousands of players and creators. Your mission: to scale our community platforms, manage a diverse roster of KOLs, and ensure that Free Fire isn't just a game, but a cultural phenomenon tailored to the SSA digital landscape.

Requirements:

1. KOL Lifecycle & Creator Strategy

  • Creator Recruitment: Identify and onboard SSA KOLs across all tiers—from "Nano" grassroots players to "Mid-tier" entertainment icons—focusing on gaming and youth-driven niches.

  • Campaign Orchestration: Plan and execute creator-led activations (online and offline) that resonate with local preferences and cultural trends.

  • Relationship Management: Move beyond one-off activations to build long-term loyalty with creators, ensuring they feel integrated into the Free Fire brand.

2. Community Ecosystem & Engagement

  • Platform Ownership: Manage and scale Free Fire’s footprint on Facebook, WhatsApp, Discord, and local community hubs, ensuring healthy moderation and high engagement.

  • Voice of the Player: Surface community sentiment, feedback, and critical issues to regional stakeholders, ensuring our global strategy is localized for SSA behavior.

  • Grassroots Support: Support offline initiatives including local tournaments, viewing parties, and campus/cybercafé activations.

3. Analytics & Localization

  • Data-Driven Insights: Track and analyze KOL performance (reach, engagement, sentiment) and provide actionable reports to the publishing team.

  • Cultural Translation: Work with marketing teams to localize campaigns, ensuring use of local slang, cultural nuances, and market-specific insights.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Experience

  • Tenure: 1–3 years of experience in Community or KOL management, preferably within Gaming, Fintech, or Youth-driven industries.

  • Platform Mastery: Deep understanding of the SSA digital ecosystem, particularly TikTok, YouTube, and the high-engagement Facebook/WhatsApp communities.

  • Work Terms: Ability to commit to a 6-month employment contract (Remote, Nigeria-based).

Core Competencies

  • Cultural Intuition: Strong sensitivity to SSA market trends and a fluent understanding of local youth culture and slang.

  • Organization: Ability to juggle multiple creator relationships and campaign timelines simultaneously without losing detail.

  • Communication: Confident, persuasive, and able to negotiate with agencies and individual creators alike.

  • Data Literacy: Comfortable with metrics; you don't just see numbers, you see player behavior.
