Maurice Xandra Solutions Limited is a management consulting company that renders quality services in Human Resource, Management and Process improvement. MXS Limited was set up to provide high quality, up to date training, team management and process improvement services for its clients.
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-precision Junior Accountant to support the core financial engine of our Oil & Gas operations. In the energy sector, financial integrity is built on the rigorous tracking of CAPEX and OPEX. This role is designed for a Chartered Accountant (ACA) who combines technical accounting depth with a "compliance-first" mindset.
Your mission is to maintain the pulse of our fiscal health—from managing the general ledger and complex intercompany reconciliations to ensuring 100% accuracy in Nigerian statutory tax remittances. You will play a critical role in cost control and audit readiness within a structured, IFRS-compliant environment. If you possess the forensic detail required for oil and gas accounting and the professional discipline of a chartered professional, we want you on our team.
Requirements:
1. General Ledger & Reporting Integrity
Ledger Governance: Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and post high-volume journal entries with "Zero-Error" precision.
Management Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules that provide leadership with a transparent view of operational performance.
IFRS Compliance: Ensure all financial records and reporting structures align with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Nigerian financial regulations.
2. Cost Control & Operational Analysis
Expenditure Monitoring: Track and monitor operational expenses (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX) to ensure alignment with project budgets.
Variance Analysis: Assist in budget preparation and perform detailed variance analysis to identify and explain deviations from financial forecasts.
Reconciliation Mastery: Perform complex bank, vendor, and intercompany reconciliations to ensure the integrity of the balance sheet.
3. Taxation & Audit Stewardship
Statutory Remittance: Compute and process VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other Nigerian statutory remittances via the relevant portals (FIRS/LIRS).
Audit Facilitation: Support internal and external audit processes by providing forensic-ready documentation and acting as a technical resource for auditors.
Internal Control: Maintain rigorous documentation in line with company policies to safeguard assets and prevent financial leakage.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Certification (MANDATORY): Must be an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) with ICAN certification.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas or energy services sector.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Technical Competencies
Software Mastery: High proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Sage, or QuickBooks.
Advanced Excel: Expert ability in data modeling, VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and financial functions.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian Tax Laws (CITA, PITA, VAT Act) and the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) financial implications.
