Job Description:
We are seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounts department. Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of a fast-growing company in the Renewable Energy sector.
This role is designed for a rising finance professional who excels at the "mechanics" of accounting—transaction posting, ledger maintenance, and statutory compliance. You will be responsible for ensuring that our financial records are audit-ready and that our daily operational cash flows are accurately tracked. If you have 2–3 years of experience, a mastery of Excel, and an interest in the EaaS industry, this is an excellent platform for your professional growth.
Requirements:
1. Financial Record-Keeping & Ledger Management
Transaction Precision: Prepare and post daily financial transactions into the accounting system (Sage), ensuring every entry is backed by proper documentation.
Ledger Governance: Maintain up-to-date Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) records, ensuring we meet our obligations and collect revenues on time.
Asset & Inventory Tracking: Assist in maintaining records related to our renewable energy assets and equipment, supporting the CFO in long-term asset management.
2. Reconciliation & Reporting Support
Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations to resolve discrepancies and ensure our internal records match bank statements perfectly.
Management Reporting: Support the CFO by preparing monthly financial schedules and draft reports that provide visibility into the firm’s performance.
Analysis Support: Conduct basic financial analysis to help the team identify trends in operational expenses or revenue leaks.
3. Statutory Compliance & Audit Readiness
Tax Documentation: Support statutory compliance by preparing documentation for WHT (Withholding Tax), VAT, and other local tax requirements.
Audit Liaison: Act as a key support during internal and external audits by organizing folders, providing explanations for entries, and retrieving requested vouchers.
Policy Adherence: Ensure all accounting activities comply with internal financial policies and broader Nigerian financial regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: HND/BSc in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2–3 years of work experience in accounting or finance (NYSC experience in a relevant firm is highly valued).
Location: Candidates living in the Ajah axis are at a distinct advantage for daily resumption.
Technical IQ
Software: Familiarity with Sage Accounting is an advantage; proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Formulas, Pivot Tables) is mandatory.
Principles: Strong foundational knowledge of IFRS and basic Nigerian tax laws.
Numerical Grit: Exceptional attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
