About Company:
Jhpiego, an Affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is a global leader in improving healthcare services for women and their families.
Job Description:
Jhpiego, in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEH), is seeking a visionary Human-Centered Design (HCD) Lead Consultant to anchor the STOP-AMDR project. As Nigeria proactively moves to prevent antimalarial drug resistance, you will lead the charge in shifting Multiple Firstline Therapies (MFT) from a technical strategy to a community-owned movement.
Embedded within the Federal Ministry of Health, you will utilize HCD methodologies to co-create demand-generation agendas and toolkits with Community-led and Civil Society Organizations (CCSOs). This is a high-impact consultancy for a "Master Trainer" capable of translating complex implementation science into sustainable, community-driven health outcomes.
Requirements:
1. HCD Co-Creation & Demand Generation
Agenda Design: Lead workshops to co-design a demand-generation agenda for MFT, ensuring that community voices define the roles of CCSOs and key messaging for Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC).
Toolkit Development: Orchestrate the development of CCSE (Community and Civil Society Engagement) toolkits that translate global MFT standards into locally resonant advocacy tools.
Master Training: Design and deploy HCD orientation packages to build the capacity of CCSOs and health workers on malaria case management and community mobilization.
2. Strategic Engagement & Advocacy
Stakeholder Liaison: Facilitate high-level advocacy with community leaders and gatekeepers, bridging the gap between national public health policy and local facility-level demand.
Feedback Governance: Support CCSOs in using CCSE frameworks to capture success stories and identify socio-cultural barriers to MFT implementation.
Collaborative Policy: Mobilize national technical expertise to ensure all HCD-driven innovations conform to Nigerian regulatory requirements and UNITAID reporting standards.
3. Knowledge Management & Implementation Science
Technical Documentation: Maintain an inventory of successful HCD tools and approaches, documenting lessons learned to inform future national scale-up.
Reporting & Publication: Lead the drafting of technical reports and manuscripts for high-impact peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the global body of evidence on MFT acceptability.
Innovation Translation: Ensure that local successes are translated into measurable, sustainable health outcomes that prevent the emergence of drug resistance.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Anthropology, Sociology, or Community Development.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years in malaria programs, with at least 5 years managing large donor-funded projects (≥ $5M annually).
Certification: Must be a Certified “Master Trainer” with proven experience in malaria case management training.
Context: Deep understanding of the Nigerian Public Health System; experience with UNITAID management is preferred.
Core Competencies
Methodology: Strong technical competence in leading co-creation methodologies and HCD frameworks.
Communication: Exceptional oral and written skills, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Adaptability: Ability to perform in low-resource, multi-cultural settings and liaise with senior government officials.
