Job Description:

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially-minded Finance Business Partner to join our team in Lagos. In this role, you will move beyond traditional accounting to act as a strategic advisor to our operational departments. You will bridge the gap between financial data and business execution, providing the insights necessary to drive smarter decision-making. From managing significant CAPEX investments to deep-diving into site profitability, you will ensure that Smile Communications maintains a lean, efficient, and growth-oriented financial structure.

Requirements:

1. Strategic Business Planning & CAPEX Management

  • Budgetary Oversight: Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts for assigned departments, ensuring alignment with overall corporate strategy.

  • CAPEX Tracking: Maintain a rigorous tracker of actual capital expenditure against approved budgets, providing management with detailed variance analysis and mitigation strategies.

  • OPEX Optimization: Review and update budget motivations for operational expenses, ensuring all departmental spend is justified and value-driven.

2. Financial Reporting & Decision Support

  • Profitability Analysis: Provide critical data and analysis for the preparation of site profitability reports, identifying high and low-performing nodes within the network.

  • Metric Development: Prepare and monitor key financial metrics and trends to offer proactive recommendations to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO).

  • Financial Integrity: Review expense ledgers for completeness and perform month-end closing activities to ensure an accurate reflection of the company's financial position.

3. Vendor Relations & Audit Compliance

  • Payables Governance: Review and validate system-generated invoices, prepare comprehensive vendor reconciliation statements, and compile payment packs for management approval.

  • Audit Readiness: Prepare detailed General Ledger (GL) schedules and analytical files for internal and external audit purposes.

  • Process Improvement: Ensure strict compliance with approved policies while proposing updates to procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Certifications

  • Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Science-related discipline (Minimum 4 years’ experience).

  • Professional Mandate: ICAN or ACCA certification is compulsory.

  • Advanced Learning: A Master’s degree is considered a significant advantage.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Sector Expertise: Relevant experience within the Finance industry, ideally within Telecommunications or a technology-driven sector.

  • Analytical Prowess: Advanced financial planning, business planning, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of financial reporting tools and Excel for complex data modeling.
