Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Real Estate Lawyer to join our team in Lekki. In this high-impact role, you will be the primary legal architect for our real estate portfolio, ensuring that every transaction is legally sound and every asset is fully protected.

From overseeing complex property transactions to navigating the nuances of Nigerian land law, you will provide the expert counsel necessary to mitigate risk and drive successful property acquisitions and developments. Requirements:

Transaction & Contract Management

  • Legal Drafting: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex legal documents, including Deeds of Assignment, Leases, Joint Venture Agreements, and Contracts of Sale.

  • Transaction Oversight: Manage real estate transactions from initial preparation through to final completion, ensuring legal and contractual soundness.

  • Title Verification: Lead title searches and verifications at various land registries to confirm property authenticity and status.

Advisory & Regulatory Compliance

  • Expert Counsel: Provide comprehensive legal advice on property, contract, and corporate law to internal teams and senior management.

  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure all company operations strictly adhere to local and state regulatory requirements, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.

  • Property Registration: Oversee the perfection of titles and the registration of property documents with the relevant government authorities.

Litigation & Relationship Management

  • Legal Representation: Represent the company in legal proceedings, hearings, and disputes related to real estate assets.

  • Client & Stakeholder Relations: Effectively manage relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and external legal partners, ensuring clear communication and professional integrity.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Academic & Professional Credentials:

    • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Barrister-at-Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School.

    • Current membership in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

    • Membership in other relevant professional bodies (e.g., ICSAN) is a distinct advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-call experience specifically within real estate law or a related commercial legal field.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Extensive experience in title documentation, property registration, and conducting thorough due diligence.

    • Deep familiarity with the Land Use Act and real estate laws specific to Lagos State.

    • Proven record of navigating the administrative processes of the Lagos State Lands Bureau.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Analytical Skills: Keen attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle legal nuances.

    • Negotiation: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to negotiate favorable terms in complex agreements.

    • Research: Proficiency in modern legal research tools and techniques.

    • Problem Solving: Excellent analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
