Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Branch Accountant to serve as the guardian of financial integrity at the branch level. In this role, you are the first line of defense against financial discrepancies, responsible for driving all accounting functions and ensuring total compliance with company policies.

You will manage the full cycle of branch finance—from daily cash/POS reconciliations to ERP data management. Requirements:

1. Cash & Liquidity Management

• Float Governance: Prepare and issue daily floats to cashiers; oversee the secure handling and timely bank lodgment of all physical cash.

• Daily Reconciliation: Perform rigorous daily balancing of cash and POS transactions, investigating and resolving any discrepancies with absolute precision.

• Shortage Reporting: Prepare monthly shortage reports and execute the write-off of transferred stock between departments, ensuring physical inventory aligns with digital records.

2. ERP Administration & Transactional Integrity

• Invoice Vetting: Rigorously verify all invoices for accuracy and technical compliance prior to posting on the ERP system.

• Journal Entries: Accurately post branch revenue and various transactions into the appropriate journals, maintaining a real-time view of branch performance.

• Dispute Resolution: Serve as the technical lead for resolving POS disputes, ensuring customer satisfaction while protecting company revenue.

3. Compliance & Financial Reporting

• Bank Reconciliations: Perform comprehensive monthly bank reconciliations to ensure the branch’s digital records mirror bank statements.

• Control Adherence: Implement and monitor robust internal financial controls to mitigate risk and prevent fraud at the branch level.

• Audit Readiness: Maintain meticulously organized financial documentation to support internal and external audit requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Minimum of B.Sc. or HND in Accountancy or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a similar branch accounting or cash management role.

• Statutory Requirement: Must possess a valid NYSC Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion letter.

• Certification: ICAN certification (or currently in view) is a significant advantage.

Technical Skills

• ERP Proficiency: Proven experience using ERP software (e.g., SAP, Odoo, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics) is highly desirable.

• Reconciliation Expertise: Strong understanding of complex bank and POS reconciliation processes.

• Security Mindset: Demonstrated ability to handle physical cash securely and responsibly
