Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and high-integrity Accountant to lead our firm's financial functions. In this role, you will be the guardian of our fiscal health, responsible for everything from day-to-day ledger management to high-level statutory compliance.
Beyond standard bookkeeping, you will serve as a strategic partner to management, providing the accurate financial data needed to drive the firm's growth. The ideal candidate is a First Class or 2.1 graduate with a deep understanding of the Nigerian tax landscape and a drive toward professional certification (ICAN/ACCA).
Requirements:
1. Financial Reporting & Asset Management
Statement Preparation: Develop comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements that reflect the firm’s true position.
Cash Flow Governance: Perform rigorous bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to ensure the firm maintains optimal liquidity.
Ledger Precision: Manage accounts payable and receivable with obsessive attention to detail, ensuring all firm and client-related transactions are recorded accurately.
2. Statutory Compliance & Tax Management
Regulatory Remittances: Oversee the accurate calculation and timely filing of all statutory deductions, including PAYE, VAT, WHT, and Pensions.
Tax Governance: Ensure the firm remains in 100% compliance with evolving Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations.
Audit Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory authorities, ensuring a smooth and transparent audit process.
3. Strategic Support & Payroll
Budgetary Insight: Assist leadership in budgeting and financial forecasting to plan for future expansions or capital expenditures.
Payroll Stewardship: Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time.
Process Improvement: Continuously refine internal financial controls to mitigate risk and improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a Minimum CGPA of 2.1.
Experience: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience. Experience within a Law Firm or professional services environment is a significant advantage.
Certification: ICAN / ACCA / ANAN (Fully qualified or at an advanced stage).
Technical IQ: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero).
