Job Description:

We are seeking a bright, ambitious, and detail-oriented Graduate Accountant to join our finance team in Port Harcourt. This is a foundational role designed for a fresh graduate who is ready to transition from classroom theory to professional practice.

You will be responsible for supporting the senior accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring the integrity of our ledger. We are looking for someone with an obsessive attention to detail, a high level of integrity, and a mastery of Microsoft Excel. Requirements:

1. Financial Data Management

• Transaction Recording: Accurately input daily financial transactions into the accounting system, ensuring proper classification of expenses and income.

• Ledger Support: Assist in maintaining the General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers (Accounts Payable/Receivable).

• Documentation: Ensure all physical and digital financial records are filed systematically for easy retrieval and audit readiness.

2. Reconciliations & Reporting

• Bank Reconciliations: Perform basic bank and cash reconciliations to ensure bank balances align with internal records.

• Monthly Reporting: Support the senior accountant in preparing monthly schedules and basic financial reports.

• Excel Analysis: Use advanced Excel functions (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) to organize and analyze financial data.

3. Compliance & Continuous Learning

• Statutory Support: Assist in the preparation of schedules for tax filings (VAT, WHT, PAYE) and pension remittances.

• Internal Controls: Adhere strictly to the company’s internal financial controls to prevent errors or fraud.

• Professional Development: Actively participate in training sessions and mentorship to fast-track your path toward professional certification (ICAN/ACCA).

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Experience: Fresh Graduate or a maximum of 1 year post-NYSC experience.

• Location: Must reside in or be able to commute to Rumuibekwe, Port Harcourt.

Technical IQ

• Excel Mastery: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is compulsory (testing may be required during the interview).

• Software Literacy: Familiarity with basic accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero) is a plus.

• Academic Foundation: Excellent understanding of IFRS and basic accounting principles (Double-entry, Accruals, Depreciation).
