Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to anchor our Finance and Accounts department. This role is the cornerstone of our organization’s financial transparency and accountability. You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle—from daily ledger maintenance and payroll to the preparation of complex annual financial statements. The ideal candidate is a disciplined professional who combines technical accounting expertise with a rigorous approach to internal controls and tax compliance.
Requirements:
1. Financial Reporting & Ledger Management
Record Integrity: Maintain meticulous financial records and general ledgers, ensuring all entries are accurate and substantiated.
Statements: Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations and manage accounts payable/receivable to ensure healthy cash flow.
2. Compliance, Tax & Audit
Statutory Filings: Ensure 100% compliance with local and federal tax regulations, including VAT, WHT, and CIT filings.
Audit Facilitation: Support internal and external audit processes by providing organized documentation and resolving queries.
Statutory Remittances: Oversee the timely remittance of payroll-related statutory deductions (Pension, NHF, PAYE).
3. Strategic Planning & Resource Protection
Budgeting: Support management in the development of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
Asset Safeguarding: Monitor and enforce internal controls to prevent fraud and safeguard company assets and inventory.
Data Analysis: Utilize Excel and accounting software to provide analytical insights into cost-saving opportunities and revenue trends.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Academic Background: Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional Standing: ICAN, ACCA, or an equivalent professional certification is a significant advantage.
Proven Tenure: 3–5 years of experience as an Accountant, ideally within a corporate or industrial environment.
Core Competencies
Technical Literacy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and modern accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero).
Analytical Skills: High attention to detail with the ability to spot variances and reconcile complex data sets.
Integrity: Unwavering commitment to financial transparency and ethical conduct.
Location Requirement
Proximity: Candidates must reside within Ajah or its immediate environs to ensure consistent punctuality and work-life balance.
