Job Description:
- Perform organizational audit and manpower audit to identify gaps, and help in manpower planning.
- Review existing human resource policies, practices, and procedures, and make inputs as appropriate.
- Develop and/ or review a Staff Handbook to guide expectations from all parties
- Advise on management of disciplinary issues, health and safety, performance appraisals, and promotion policies and procedures, as applicable.
- Develop a robust and evidence-based salary structure and salary scale for the organization
- If needed, advise on and assist in recruitment and selection processes, including developing and updating job descriptions, screening candidates, and managing onboarding.
- Design and develop staff training to enhance their skill in various HR-related areas.
- Provide operational advice to managers and staff in relation to employment contracts, terms of employment, and the interpretation of agreements, awards, and policies.
Requirements:
- Prior HR experience in Research and Development Sector is desirable.
- HR experience with large development or non-governmental organisations with staff in more than one country is an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of HR best practices, local and international labour laws, compliance requirements, and HR-related legislations.
- Proven track record in leading HR initiatives, talent management, and employee relations in a fast-paced or high-growth environment.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills.
- Proven skills in attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Abuja-based candidate is preferred but not a requirement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- B.Sc or HND in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Law, Social Sciences, Languages, or other relevant fields.
- MSc or PhD in any of these fields is desirable.
- HR certification and Membership in a professional HR body (e.g., Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria - CIPM) is required. Membership of relevant international HR bodies is desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional working experience is required.
