Job Description:
We are seeking a highly disciplined and technically proficient Senior Accountant to lead our core financial operations. In this role, you will be the custodian of our financial integrity, responsible for transforming raw transaction data into strategic, IFRS-compliant insights.
As a Chartered Accountant (ICAN/ACA), you will not only oversee the General Ledger but also serve as a mentor to junior staff and a primary liaison with regulatory bodies like the FIRS. Requirements:
1. IFRS Financial Reporting & Performance Analytics
Financial Stewardship: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts that meet global IFRS standards.
Budgetary Control: Support the forecasting process and lead rigorous variance analysis to provide cost-control and revenue performance insights.
Data Integrity: Ensure meticulous General Ledger (GL) postings, account reconciliations, and the maintenance of all financial schedules.
2. Statutory Compliance & Tax Governance
Regulatory Liaison: Coordinate all statutory filings and maintain proactive relationships with the FIRS and State IRS.
Nigerian Tax Mastery: Ensure 100% compliance with local tax laws, including CIT, VAT, WHT, and PAYE.
Audit Leadership: Lead the coordination of external audits, ensuring all queries are resolved and financial records are pristine.
3. Internal Controls & Leadership
Process Engineering: Implement and monitor internal control frameworks to safeguard company assets and recommend process improvements to eliminate inefficiencies.
Team Mentorship: Supervise and develop junior finance staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
Systems Integration: Leverage SAP S4/HANA to streamline reporting and collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and HR for unified data tracking.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Mandatory Certification: ICAN (ACA) is mandatory. ACCA is an added advantage.
Experience: 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role. Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is highly preferred.
Technical IQ
ERP Mastery: Hands-on experience with SAP S4/HANA is a significant advantage.
Advanced Excel: High proficiency in financial modeling and complex data analysis.
Tax Knowledge: Deep understanding of current Nigerian tax laws and IFRS reporting requirements.
