Job Description:

We are seeking a diligent and dependable Hospital Assistant to join our facility team in Abuja. In this role, you will be a vital part of our patient care support system, ensuring that the hospital environment remains pristine, safe, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and medical staff.

The ideal candidate has a "keen eye for detail" and understands that hospital cleanliness prevents the spread of infections. You will be responsible for the continuous monitoring of all facility areas, ensuring they meet strict health and safety codes. If you have 2–3 years of experience in facility maintenance or hospitality and a strong commitment to hygiene, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements:

1. Facility Inspections & Quality Control

  • Rigorous Monitoring: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled checks of patient rooms, waiting areas, and common spaces to ensure they meet the hospital’s "Gold Standard" for cleanliness.

  • Stairway & High-Traffic Safety: Pay special attention to stairways, hallways, and elevators to ensure they are free of debris, spills, or hazards that could cause accidents.

  • Reporting: Document any maintenance issues (e.g., burnt-out lights, leaking taps) identified during cleaning inspections to the facilities manager.

2. Safety & Sanitation Compliance

  • Policy Adherence: Ensure all areas are in strict compliance with the hospital’s sanitation and sterilization policies to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

  • Waste Management Awareness: Ensure that waste is being disposed of in the correct bins (segregating medical waste from general waste) according to safety protocols.

  • Chemical Safety: Follow all safety guidelines when using or storing cleaning chemicals to ensure the safety of yourself and others in the facility.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Minimum of an SSCE qualification.

  • Experience: 2 – 3 years of relevant work experience in a hospital, hotel, or corporate cleaning environment.

  • Integrity: Proven track record of honesty and reliability in previous roles.

Core Competencies

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot small cleanliness issues that others might miss.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs, for the duration of a full-time shift.

  • Communication: Basic ability to read instructions and report issues to supervisors clearly.
