Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and clinically proficient Optometrist to join our eye care team in Lagos. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary eye care, ranging from routine vision assessments to the detection and co-management of complex ocular pathologies.

The ideal candidate combines medical expertise with a patient-centric approach, ensuring that every individual receives precise prescriptions and proactive health advice. Requirements:

1. Comprehensive Vision Care

  • Refraction & Assessment: Conduct thorough eye examinations to determine visual acuity and refractive errors ($Myopia$, $Hyperopia$, and $Astigmatism$).

  • Prescriptive Precision: Prescribe and fit corrective eyewear, including single vision, progressive lenses, and various contact lens modalities (soft, RGP, or specialty fits).

  • Binocular Vision: Evaluate binocular function and eye coordination, providing appropriate interventions or vision therapy recommendations where necessary.

2. Ocular Health & Diagnostics

  • Disease Detection: Perform detailed screenings for ocular diseases such as Glaucoma, Cataracts, Macular Degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

  • Diagnostic Imaging: Utilize clinical equipment (such as Tonometer, Auto-refractor, and Ophthalmoscopy) to assess internal and external eye structures.

  • Treatment & Referral: Manage minor ocular infections and allergies, and provide timely referrals to Ophthalmologists for surgical or advanced medical interventions.

3. Patient Education & Management

  • Counseling: Advise patients on proper eye hygiene, contact lens care, and the impact of systemic health (e.g., hypertension, diabetes) on vision.

  • Record Integrity: Maintain meticulous patient files, documenting clinical findings, treatment plans, and follow-up schedules.

  • Product Knowledge: Guide patients in selecting lens coatings (Blue-cut, Anti-reflex) and frames that suit both their lifestyle and prescription needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution.

  • Licensing: Must be registered with the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN) with a valid, current practicing license.

  • Experience: Previous clinical experience in a hospital or private practice setting is preferred.
