Job Description:
We are looking for a creative, skilled, and patient Fashion Academy Tutor to help shape the next generation of fashion designers at our Gbagada campus. This is a hybrid role (3–4 days on-site) perfect for a fashion professional who has mastered the technical craft and has a passion for transferring those skills to others. You will lead practical sessions, refine student techniques, and help bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world industry requirements.
Requirements:
Instructional Delivery: Teach comprehensive courses including pattern drafting, garment construction, sewing techniques, fabric science, and the fundamentals of the fashion business.
Curriculum Development: Follow and enhance our existing curriculum to ensure students remain competitive in both local and diaspora markets.
Practical Supervision: Lead hands-on studio sessions. You will be responsible for providing expert feedback on fittings, garment finishing, and couture techniques.
Student Mentorship: Assess student progress through assignments and final collection projects, providing one-on-one guidance to help them build professional portfolios.
Studio Management: Maintain a high standard of order in the studio, ensuring all industrial machines and tools are used safely and maintained correctly.
Trend Awareness: Stay current with global fashion trends, new machinery, and digital design tools to keep course content fresh and relevant.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Degree or Professional Certificate in Fashion Design, Clothing & Textile, or an equivalent discipline.
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on professional experience in fashion design.
Technical Mastery: * Advanced knowledge of manual and industrial sewing machines.
Expertise in pattern making, grading, and couture finishing is a MUST.
Preferred Skills: Basic knowledge of fashion illustration software and fabric painting.
Core Competencies:
Patience: Ability to teach beginners and explain complex technical processes clearly.
Creativity: A keen eye for design, construction, and garment aesthetics.
Motivation: Ability to inspire students and foster a positive learning environment.
Portfolio: Candidates must be able to present samples of garments or collections they have personally designed and constructed.
