Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Officer to support our environmental consultancy and laboratory operations. This role is a vital link in our sustainability chain, providing technical support for environmental monitoring projects, ESG data collection, and regulatory compliance.
As an Environmental Officer, you will oscillate between high-stakes fieldwork and precision laboratory analysis. You will assist in the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and support the operational integrity of our environmental laboratory. If you have 2–3 years of experience and a passion for environmental stewardship—particularly within the Oil & Gas or Industrial sectors—this is an opportunity to grow your technical expertise.
Requirements:
1. Fieldwork & Compliance Monitoring
Technical Field Support: Assist in environmental monitoring projects, including soil, water, and air sampling, ensuring that field data is collected with scientific rigor.
Impact Studies: Support the development of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and the preparation of regulatory documentation for government and industry bodies.
Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all field activities and consultancy projects adhere to local and international environmental regulations.
2. Laboratory Operations & Quality Control
Analytical Assistance: Support the environmental laboratory by assisting in complex analytical procedures and ensuring the accuracy of data logs.
Equipment Stewardship: Maintain and operate basic laboratory equipment, with the opportunity to gain advanced proficiency in Gas Chromatography (GC) and GC-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS).
Quality Management: Work within the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure laboratory results meet the highest standards of reliability and audit readiness.
3. ESG & Sustainability Data Support
Data Harvesting: Assist in the collection and synthesis of sustainability data for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) assignments.
Reporting Assistance: Support the preparation of environmental reports, summarizing technical data into clear, actionable insights for clients and internal stakeholders.
Internal Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the company remains in compliance with internal management system policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: 2–3 years of experience in environmental management, consultancy, or laboratory services.
Sector Knowledge: A basic understanding of environmental regulations, particularly within the Oil & Gas or manufacturing sectors.
Core Competencies
Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with environmental monitoring processes and laboratory equipment (knowledge of GC/GCMS is a significant advantage).
Communication: Strong written and verbal skills for drafting technical reports and collaborating with stakeholders.
Operational Agility: Willingness to engage in physical fieldwork and precision laboratory tasks interchangeably.
Detail Orientation: High level of accuracy in data recording and sample handling.
