Job Description:

We are seeking a high-integrity HSE Officer to serve as the primary guardian of safety across our transport and logistics network. In an industry where mobile assets, heavy machinery, and high-velocity warehouses intersect, your role is critical in ensuring that "zero harm" is not just a goal, but a daily reality. You will be responsible for designing the safety protocols that govern everything from long-haul driver safety to the intricate mechanics of warehouse loading. If you are a certified HSE professional with a sharp eye for hazard identification and a talent for building a culture of safety, we want you on our team.

Requirements:

1. HSE Policy Architecture & Communication

  • Logistics-Specific Protocols: Develop and maintain specialized HSE policies and work instructions tailored to transport operations, including vehicle pre-trip inspections, secure loading/unloading procedures, and warehouse traffic management.

  • Information Dissemination: Ensure that safety information is not just documented but effectively communicated through safety briefings, tool-box talks, and digital platforms to all employees and drivers.

  • Driver Safety Governance: Establish and monitor strict driver safety protocols, focusing on fatigue management, defensive driving, and emergency response.

2. Advanced Risk Assessment & Hazard Mitigation

  • Operational Auditing: Conduct rigorous, regular risk assessments across all logistics activities—from the warehouse floor to maintenance bays and active driving routes.

  • Integrated Hazard Identification: Identify potential risks associated with vehicle mechanical integrity, materials handling equipment (forklifts, etc.), and environmental warehouse conditions.

  • The Control Hierarchy: Implement a robust "Hierarchy of Controls," prioritizing engineering solutions (e.g., speed limiters, warehouse barriers) alongside administrative protocols and the provision of high-quality PPE.

3. Compliance, Auditing & Incident Investigation

  • Incident Root-Cause Analysis: Lead detailed investigations into near-misses and accidents to identify systemic failures and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.

  • Regulatory Alignment: Ensure the organization remains in total compliance with national occupational health and safety laws and international logistics safety standards.

  • Performance Reporting: Use data to track safety KPIs, preparing monthly reports for leadership that highlight risk trends and the effectiveness of current control measures.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Professional Foundation

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience: At least 2 years of direct HSE management experience, with a strong preference for candidates coming from the transport, logistics, or supply chain sectors.

  • Certification: Professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISPON) is highly desirable.

Core Competencies

  • Risk Intelligence: Expert-level proficiency in conducting formal risk assessments and safety audits.

  • Technical Savvy: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for data tracking and presentation.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to influence behavior at both the driver and executive levels.
