Job Description:
Mikson Industries is seeking a high-integrity, detail-obsessed Accountant to own the financial heartbeat of our distribution and retail operations. This isn't just a "bookkeeping" job; it is a Financial Control mandate. You will be responsible for ensuring that every naira and every unit of stock—from veterinary drugs to aquaculture additives—is accounted for, reconciled, and protected.
You will act as the company’s "First Line of Defense," enforcing cash discipline, investigating shrinkage, and providing the management team with the clean data they need to drive growth. If you have 2+ years of experience in retail or distribution accounting and possess the "Excel grit" to resolve complex variances, we invite you to join our team.
Requirements:
1. High-Velocity Cash & Sales Control
Daily Reconciliation: Perform a 3-way match of sales (Cash, POS, Transfers) against invoices and receipts. You must confirm physical evidence for every transaction—no missing receipts, no backdated entries.
Banking Governance: Execute daily/weekly bank reconciliations, resolving POS settlement lags, failed transfers, and bank charges with speed.
Leakage Prevention: Oversee the cash movement journey from the point of sale to bank confirmation, ensuring zero "silent leakages" or undocumented outflows.
2. Inventory-Finance Integration (Critical)
Stock-to-Cash Accuracy: Work closely with Warehouse and Outlet teams to ensure "Stock In = Recorded" and "Stock Out = Invoiced."
Shrinkage Investigation: Lead periodic stock counts and investigate variances, damages, or expired items across our product categories (Pet products, Disinfectants, Feed additives, etc.).
Valuation & Margins: Track gross margins and category-specific performance to provide insights into our most profitable distribution channels.
3. Receivables, Payables & Reporting
Credit Discipline: Manage the debtors' ledger with rigor—generating aging reports, following up on reminders, and escalating long-standing balances to protect liquidity.
Supplier Management: Reconcile supplier statements and maintain ledgers, ensuring Mikson policies on discounts and payment terms are applied correctly.
Strategic Reporting: Prepare the "Management Pack," including weekly cash positions, expense vs. budget trackers, and branch-level performance summaries.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience: 2+ years of progressive experience in accounting. Experience in Distribution, Warehouse, or Retail (branch/outlet accounting) is a massive advantage.
Technical IQ: Strong mastery of Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets are your daily habitat) and familiarity with ERP systems (ERPNext or similar).
Core Competencies
Unyielding Integrity: Zero tolerance for undocumented transactions; ability to handle funds and sensitive data professionally.
Operational Discipline: High attention to detail with the ability to handle the pressure of daily reconciliations.
Process Enforcement: Strength of character to enforce internal controls and approval limits across the organization.
