Job Description:
We are seeking a high-energy, systems-oriented Store Manager to spearhead the launch and daily leadership of our brand-new supermarket in Ojota. This is not just a maintenance role; it is a "founding" opportunity for a retail veteran to establish operational systems, build a culture from scratch, and turn a new location into a community landmark.
Your mission is to transition the store from a pre-launch phase to a high-profit, smooth-running retail engine. You will be responsible for everything from recruiting your dream team and negotiating with suppliers to ensuring that every customer who walks through our doors experiences a world-class shopping environment. Requirements:
1. Pre-Launch Setup & Systems Architecture
Operational Blueprint: Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for checkouts, shelf-stocking, and warehouse management.
Team Building: Lead the end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and training of all floor staff, supervisors, and security personnel.
Departmental Synergy: Coordinate the launch of various departments (Produce, Butchery, Bakery, and General Merchandise) to ensure a cohesive store opening.
2. Supply Chain & Inventory Integrity
Supplier Governance: Identify and manage relationships with reliable local and regional suppliers to ensure high-quality stock and favorable credit terms.
Stock Optimization: Implement a robust inventory management system to minimize shrinkage, prevent stock-outs, and manage shelf-life for perishables.
Cash Flow Management: Oversee daily financial reconciliations and ensure rigorous control over store expenditures and revenue.
3. Performance & Customer Experience
Sales Driving: Develop and implement floor-level promotions and customer loyalty initiatives to drive foot traffic in the competitive Ojota market.
Data-Driven Reporting: Prepare daily and weekly operational summaries, tracking KPIs such as "Average Basket Value" and "Stock Turnover."
Safety & Hygiene Compliance: Ensure the store meets the highest standards of safety and hygiene, adhering to all Nigerian regulatory and company-specific policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: B.Sc / HND in Business Administration or a related field.
Experience: 5 – 7 years of core retail or supermarket management experience (previous experience with a new store opening is a significant advantage).
Leadership: Proven ability to lead large, multi-department teams in a high-pressure environment.
Core Competencies
Strategic Problem Solving: Ability to navigate the logistical challenges of the Ojota environment (e.g., traffic, supply chain consistency).
Process Discipline: A strict focus on SOPs and organizational order.
