Job Description:
We are looking for a creative and high-energy Sous Chef to join our team in the heart of Victoria Island. If you are passionate about the art of fusion cuisine blending bold Afro-inspired flavors with international culinary techniques and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this is your opportunity to lead. You will serve as the right hand to the Head Chef, ensuring our kitchen maintains a world-class standard of consistency, flavor, and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
Operational Leadership: Support the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations. Be ready to step up and take full command of the kitchen during service when needed, ensuring the pace and quality never falter.
Culinary Excellence: Prepare and execute diverse menu items to a consistently high standard. Contribute your creativity to seasonal menu updates and the development of new fusion concepts.
Inventory & Cost Control: Take ownership of kitchen stocks. Conduct regular counts, manage supplier orders, and strictly track waste to keep margins healthy.
Quality & Hygiene: Oversee portion control and plating precision across all stations. Enforce rigorous hygiene and food safety protocols in compliance with health standards.
Team Development: Mentor and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: 3–8 years of professional kitchen experience, with hands-on exposure to both Afro and international fusion cuisine.
Qualifications: Vocational training or a culinary school qualification is an advantage, but proven professional experience is paramount.
