Job Description:
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a high-caliber Project Data Manager to lead our Project Database sub-unit in Ibadan. In a global research organization, data is the bedrock of accountability. Your mission is to serve as the institutional architect of our project data, ensuring that every contract, MoU, and proposal is accurately captured, analyzed, and tracked throughout its lifecycle.
You will act as the bridge between scientific research and contractual compliance. From configuring complex reporting timelines to managing the CGIAR Pipeline database, you will ensure that IITA meets its institutional and donor obligations with 100% data integrity. Requirements:
1. Database Governance & Contractual Architecture
System Integrity: Oversee and maintain the IITA project database, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and security of all institutional data.
Contractual Analysis: Interpret complex donor agreements, MoUs, and proposals to configure deliverables, reporting milestones, and financial obligations within the system.
Document Lifecycle: Systematically manage project documentation in alignment with global institutional standards and data governance policies.
2. Performance Monitoring & CGIAR Integration
Strategic Reporting: Prepare periodic high-level reports for the IITA Management, Board of Trustees, and CGIAR Performance Monitoring exercises.
Pipeline Synchronization: Collaborate with the Head of Unit to ensure seamless and timely updates to the global CGIAR Pipeline database.
Scientist Appraisal Focal Point: Serve as the technical lead for performance appraisal matters related to project submissions and scientific output.
3. Leadership, Training & Process Innovation
Sub-Unit Oversight: Lead the Technical and Project Database sub-unit, providing mentorship and performance status reports to the Head of Unit.
User Enablement: Train scientists and staff on database functionality, manage access protocols, and resolve complex technical queries.
Process Optimization: Identify and implement systemic improvements to enhance the efficiency of project development workflows and data architecture.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Master’s Degree in Data/Information Systems, Project Management, Computer Science, or Development Studies.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role within a well-structured international or research organization.
Certification: Professional certification in Data Management, MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist), or Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) is a distinct advantage.
Core Competencies
Systems IQ: Mastery of enterprise project management systems (EPMS) and proposal automation workflows.
Analytical Precision: Strong ability to interpret donor reporting requirements and configure data architecture accordingly.
Discretion: Proven ability to handle sensitive contractual and personnel information with the highest level of integrity.
