Job Description:
This role supports the achievement of affiliate production and financial objectives by providing robust planning, scheduling, and performance management support for Drilling & Wells operations.
The position plays a critical role in integrating engineering, operations, finance, and project teams to deliver safe, cost-effective, and timely well operations using advanced planning and digital tools.
Key Responsibilities
Planning, Scheduling & Performance Support:
Develop and manage detailed drilling and well operation plans using Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Office tools
Consolidate planning inputs from multiple disciplines and external stakeholders to optimise resource utilisation and operational efficiency
Actively contribute to conceptual, detailed, and execution-phase schedules for Drilling & Wells activities
Analyse technical documentation to develop optimised drilling and well operation schedules
Identify and communicate critical activities, risks, and constraints to Drilling & Wells teams and management
Support the preparation of operational and financial analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring
Prepare and review KPIs and Performance Indices related to Drilling & Wells activities, QA/QC, inspections, and material management
Operational & Cross-Functional Coordination:
Support operations teams in developing medium- to long-term drilling plans in collaboration with Engineering, GSR, C&P, ECP, Finance, Planning, and Project teams
Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Project teams to ensure schedule compliance, progress tracking, and continuous improvement
Liaise with superintendents and operational sites on logistics, accommodation, and transportation planning
Prepare and validate look-ahead plans (5-week, 4-month, and longer-term schedules)
Assist in supervising schedule development, progress monitoring, reporting, and feedback integration
Provide planning support for rig-based, barge, SEWOP, and rigless operations
Continuous Improvement & Digital Transformation:
Lead the preparation, optimisation, follow-up, and continuous improvement of drilling and well schedules
Contribute to LEAN initiatives, cost rationalisation, and performance optimisation within the Methods & Performance team
Act as a key contributor to the digital transformation roadmap for the Drilling & Wells métier
Capture and document lessons learned related to planning and scheduling
Participate in the company’s REX (Return of Experience) knowledge-sharing initiatives
Technical & Professional Requirements:
Strong knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies
Proficiency in planning and project management software, including Primavera P6 (v3 or higher), MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
Good technical understanding of Drilling, Completions, Well Interventions, Well Integrity, and Fluids
Solid knowledge of company technical referentials, industry standards, and best practices for safe and optimal well delivery
Ability to propose innovative solutions to improve well performance, reduce operational risk, and optimise costs
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
Requirements:
Prior experience in project planning, scheduling, and interface management within oil and gas operations (desirable)
Strong knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies, with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Proven experience using planning and project management software, including Primavera P6 (v3 or higher), MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
Solid technical understanding of drilling engineering and operations, completion engineering, well interventions, and well integrity management
Good knowledge of company rules, technical guides, manuals, general specifications, and CMS requirements related to Drilling & Wells, HSE, QA/QC, and associated disciplines
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with internal and external teams across multiple functions and seniority levels
Demonstrates a strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to operational excellence
Good understanding of regulatory authorities and compliance requirements within the Nigerian oil and gas sector, with awareness of international oil and gas regulations and standards
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences with 3–5 years of relevant technical experience in Well Engineering, Drilling & Wells operations, or related roles
