Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber and hands-on Senior Backend Engineer to anchor the technological core of OneVERIFY in Abuja. In the mission-critical world of digital identity and RegTech, success is defined by "Architectural Resilience", the ability to build systems that are not only scalable and secure but also backed by a world-class technical support framework. This role is designed for a "Full-Cycle Technical Leader" with 5+ years of experience who can blend "Advanced Backend Engineering" with the "Operational Grit" required to oversee Tier 2/3 support and maintain high system uptime.

Your mission is to ensure "Optimal System Availability and Scalable Infrastructure Growth." You will be the primary architect of our backend ecosystem: responsible for API design, database optimization, and implementing robust security protocols like OAuth and OpenID Connect. Requirements:

1. Backend Systems Architecture & API Governance

• Scalable Engineering: Lead the design and maintenance of efficient backend systems and APIs, ensuring low latency and high availability for identity and verification services.

• Database Stewardship: Oversee the administration and optimization of both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases to handle high-volume data transactions.

• Security Integration: Implement industry-standard security practices, including encryption, IAM, and secure API integrations (OAuth, OpenID Connect) to protect sensitive identity data.

2. Technical Leadership & DevOps Orchestration

• Mentorship & Standards: Set the technical direction and coding standards for the team, conducting rigorous code reviews and providing career development support for junior developers.

• DevOps Governance: Oversee the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud hosting strategies to ensure seamless deployments.

• Strategic Improvement: Proactively identify technical debt and recommend architectural shifts to ensure modularity and maintainability as the platform scales.

3. Support Oversight & System Health Monitoring

• Escalated Troubleshooting: Lead Tier 2/3 support efforts, resolving complex system issues and delivering permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.

• Proactive Monitoring: Establish and maintain robust alerting frameworks using tools like Datadog, Sentry, or New Relic to respond swiftly to performance degradation or downtime.

• Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Author high-fidelity technical documentation and FAQs to empower both clients and internal support teams with self-service capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Experience: 5+ years of backend development experience using Node.js, Python, Go, or Java.

• Technical Mastery: Proven experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization, and building scalable API ecosystems.

• Domain Context: Experience in Fintech, RegTech, or Identity Verification is a significant advantage.

Nice-to-Haves

• Knowledge of Decentralized Identity (DiD), Blockchain, or Cryptographic systems.

• Familiarity with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

• Previous exposure to KYC/AML integration workflows.
