Job Description:
We are looking for a high-velocity Operations Manager to serve as the engine of our logistics growth. This is a unique "Player-Coach" role designed for a professional who can win the business in the boardroom and then step onto the field to ensure the fleet delivers.
You will own the entire client lifecycle—from leveraging your industry network to secure new outsourcing contracts to recruiting the drivers and optimizing the routes that make those contracts profitable. If you are a commercially minded leader who understands that logistics is as much about sales as it is about trucks, this is your opportunity to build and scale a premier operation in Lagos.
Requirements:
1. Business Development & Revenue Growth
Strategic Prospecting: Identify and secure new high-value logistics and outsourcing contracts through proactive business development and deep industry relationships.
Account Expansion: Manage the existing client portfolio, identifying opportunities to upsell services and deepen integration with current outsourcing partners.
Network Leveraging: Use your existing industry connections to generate a consistent pipeline of new business opportunities.
2. Operational Execution & Fleet Management
Talent Acquisition: Source, vet, and manage a high-quality pool of truck drivers and operational staff to meet the demands of won contracts.
Process Engineering: Develop and implement operational workflows that increase productivity while reducing "empty miles" and idle time.
Field Leadership: Conduct regular site visits to resolve operational bottlenecks, strengthen client relationships, and ensure service standards are met on the ground.
3. Compliance & Risk Mitigation
Regulatory Governance: Ensure 100% compliance with Lagos State transportation regulations, safety standards, and internal company policies.
Safety Stewardship: Implement rigorous safety protocols to protect our staff, the fleet, and our clients’ cargo.
KPI Tracking: Monitor operational efficiency, driver performance, and client satisfaction to ensure the business is meeting its strategic targets.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Sales, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience: 3–5+ years in operations management, specifically within the logistics or transportation sector.
Skill Mix: A rare combination of strong sales/negotiation skills and operational/fleet expertise.
Regulation Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of transportation safety standards and local regulations.
Core Competencies
Commercial Mindset: Ability to see the financial impact of operational decisions.
Leadership Excellence: Proven ability to manage diverse teams, from corporate stakeholders to truck drivers.
