Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist II to join our clinical diagnostics team. This role is responsible for performing a variety of chemical, hematological, immunologic, and microbiological tests to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will be expected to maintain high standards of accuracy, manage sophisticated laboratory equipment, and ensure that all procedures comply with health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
1. Clinical Testing & Analysis
Specimen Processing: Collect, track, and prepare biological samples (blood, urine, tissue) for analysis according to standard operating procedures.
Complex Diagnostics: Perform manual and automated tests in areas such as Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Grouping/Serology, and Medical Microbiology.
Results Verification: Analyze and interpret test results for accuracy before releasing them to the clinical team, flagging any critical or panic values immediately.
2. Quality Control & Equipment Management
Calibration: Perform daily calibration and maintenance of laboratory analyzers and specialized equipment to ensure optimal performance.
QC Protocols: Execute Internal Quality Control (IQC) and participate in External Quality Assurance (EQA) schemes to validate the reliability of laboratory data.
3. Safety, Compliance & Documentation
Biosafety: Strictly adhere to universal precautions and biosafety levels to prevent cross-contamination and laboratory-acquired infections.
Data Management: Maintain meticulous records of all tests performed, using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to manage patient data and audit trails.
Inventory Control: Monitor reagent stock levels and ensure that no expired materials are used in clinical testing.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues with equipment or reagents to minimize downtime.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum Qualification
Education: National Diploma (ND) in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized health institution.
Equivalency: Equivalent professional qualifications from recognized technical or health colleges are acceptable.
Professional Licensing
Registration: Must possess valid and current registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) or the relevant national regulatory body.
Practicing License: Must be in possession of a current annual practicing license.
