About Company:
MacTay Consulting has been in existence for over 28 years in Nigeria. We are a member of TACK and TMI, international consulting companies operating in over 60 countries and with a combined experience of over 80years.
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Marine Superintendent Engineer to serve as the technical authority for our offshore marine operations. This is a senior-level, rotational role (4 weeks on/4 weeks off) based in Port Harcourt, designed for a seasoned maritime expert who can bridge the gap between rigorous engineering standards and the volatile realities of offshore exploration.
Reporting to the Marine Assurance Manager, your mission is to ensure the technical integrity and operational excellence of every vessel in the company's interest—from AHTS and PSVs to MODUs and Construction Barges. You will be the primary technical duet for contract tenders, the lead for OVID inspections, and the critical eye overseeing Dynamically Positioned (DP) vessel compliance. If you possess the maritime grit of a Chief Engineer and the analytical precision of an Auditor, we want you to lead our offshore technical governance.
Requirements:
1. Marine Assurance & Technical Audit
Vessel Suitability: Oversee the implementation of the Affiliate Marine Assurance Plan, conducting rigorous audits and inspections across all vessel types (OIMR, PSV, Crew boats, etc.).
DP Governance: Ensure all Dynamically Positioned (DP) vessels meet strict company requirements for design and operation, triggering derogation requests where local market constraints apply.
OVID Inspections: Execute inspections in line with OCIMF protocol, acting as a subject matter expert in vessel safety and technical readiness.
2. Offshore Technical Operations & Expert Advice
Operations Oversight: Provide high-level marine expertise to internal departments (Drilling, Production, GSR, ECP), specifically overseeing complex barge and rig move activities.
Ship-to-Platform Interface: Prepare and provide strict guidelines for marine offshore operations with installations, advising Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs) on cargo loading/unloading and passenger transfers.
Contractual Duet: Act as the technical counter-part to C&P Contract Engineers during Call for Tender (CFT) processes to ensure technical specifications match operational needs.
3. Operational Excellence & Safety (HSE)
Incident Investigation: Lead investigation and follow-up for marine incidents, implementing Corrective Task Actions (CTA) and monitoring progress.
Contractor Coaching: Conduct regular HSE meetings with contractors and "on-the-job" coaching for vessel crews to introduce and maintain international best practices.
System Optimization: Propose corrective actions based on anomaly reports and provide technical feedback for Service Quality Meetings (SQM) with contractors.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Certification: Class 1 Master or Chief Engineer certificate (STCW95).
Experience: Minimum 10 years of sea-going experience, with at least 5 years serving as Chief Officer/Captain or 2nd/Chief Engineer on Offshore Vessels (AHTS, PSV, IMR).
Technical Credentials: Valid DPO or DP Technicians’ certificate.
Advantage: Valid OVID Inspector accreditation is highly preferred.
Core Competencies
Strategic Oversight: Proven track record in marine operations and offshore asset management.
Analytical Prowess: Ability to interpret complex technical data and draft comprehensive anomaly/incident reports.
Linguistic Skill: Total fluency in spoken and written English.
