Job Description:
Tawona Group is seeking a meticulous and reliable Inventory Officer to oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of our food items, ingredients, and kitchen supplies. This role is the backbone of our operational efficiency, ensuring that our kitchen and café teams have exactly what they need, when they need it. You will be responsible for receiving, portioning, storing, and issuing stock while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and financial accountability.
The ideal candidate understands that in the food industry, inventory management is not just about counting boxes, it’s about minimizing waste, ensuring freshness through FIFO principles, and protecting the company’s bottom line through rigorous stock control.
Requirements:
Receiving & Quality Assurance
Verification: Receive all deliveries from vendors and in-house purchasers, meticulously counting, weighing, and measuring items to ensure they match purchase specifications.
Quality Inspection: Inspect all ingredients to ensure they meet Tawona Group’s high quality and safety expectations before they enter storage.
Documentation: Accurately record all received items, including quantities and costs, into the Inventory Management Software.
Storage & Food Safety
Portioning & Labeling: Portion received items appropriately and ensure all stock is labeled and dated.
FIFO Management: Organize dry goods, refrigerated items, and frozen stock using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principles to prevent spoilage.
Environment Control: Monitor storage conditions to prevent shortages or overstocking and maintain a monthly deep-clean schedule for all freezers and storage facilities.
Issuance & Internal Control
Standardized Requisitions: Manage a formal requisition system, ensuring all items issued to the kitchen are documented and approved.
Timely Logistics: Issue daily required items to kitchen staff before Close of Business (COB) for the next day or by 8:00 AM for same-day service.
Loss Prevention: Conduct daily stock counts of cooked foods, proteins, and drinks, paying specific attention to high-value items to minimize variances.
Reporting & Collaboration
Performance Tracking: Generate weekly and monthly inventory reports highlighting usage trends, stock levels, and discrepancies.
Operational Support: Collaborate with the kitchen team to forecast needs and assist in expediting duties during peak periods to ensure seamless service delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Experience:
2–4 years of experience in inventory control or storekeeping.
Experience within a restaurant, café, or hospitality environment is highly preferred.
Additional certifications in Food Safety or Supply Chain Management are an advantage.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Inventory Management Software and basic record-keeping tools.
Strong numerical skills with an obsessive attention to detail.
Deep knowledge of food storage standards, hygiene, and FIFO principles.
Core Competencies:
Integrity: A high level of honesty in handling high-value stock and records.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, move, and organize stock items in a fast-paced environment, including exposure to cold storage areas.
Proactivity: Ability to identify stock needs before they become shortages.
