About Company:
Malaria Consortium is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations specialising in the comprehensive prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable and under privileged populations. We increasingly find our work on malaria can be effectively integrated with other similar public health interventions for greater impact and therefore expanded our remit to include child health and neglected tropical disease interventions
Job Description:
Malaria Consortium is seeking a high-caliber Senior HR Officer to lead our national resourcing efforts in Abuja. This role is the engine of our talent pipeline, ensuring that our life-saving programs are powered by the right people at the right time.
You will act as a strategic partner to hiring managers, guiding them through the recruitment lifecycle—from drafting precision Job Descriptions to conducting high-stakes interviews. This is a role for a process-driven HR professional who balances the "human" element of People & Culture with the "systemic" requirements of compliance, GDPR, and Nigeria’s labor laws.
Requirements:
1. End-to-End Talent Acquisition (60%)
Strategic Sourcing: Advertise vacancies across specialized global health networks, social media, and agencies to attract high-quality clinical and administrative talent.
Selection Rigor: Lead the long-listing process, design technical selection tests, and coordinate interview panels to ensure a merit-based and transparent hiring process.
Candidate Experience: Manage the "Communication Loop," ensuring all applicants—successful or not—receive professional feedback, protecting our employer brand.
Data Stewardship: Maintain the Cascade recruitment module and SharePoint folders, ensuring all interview grids and tests are stored in compliance with GDPR.
2. Onboarding & Lifecycle Administration (20%)
Contractual Precision: Draft complex offer letters and employment contracts, ensuring all amendments are documented and legally sound.
The "First 90 Days": Coordinate comprehensive inductions and P&C briefings, ensuring new starters are culturally and technically aligned with the organization.
Performance Tracking: Collate staff objectives, probation reviews, and appraisals, ensuring the People & Culture database remains a "Single Source of Truth."
3. Compliance, Support & Consultancy (20%)
Field Oversight: Provide support to state offices to ensure HR policies are applied consistently across all operating regions in Nigeria.
Consultant Management: Support the wider team in the specialized procurement, interviewing, and contracting of external consultants.
Employee Relations: Assist the P&C Manager in sensitive investigations and employment relation cases, maintaining absolute confidentiality.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Certificate/Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a related HR role, ideally at a similar seniority level.
Sector Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian Employment Law.
NGO Context: Prior experience in an International NGO (INGO) is highly desirable and considered a significant advantage.
Core Competencies
Tech Proficiency: High mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) and experience with HRIS platforms like Cascade.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to record-keeping and background checks (academic certificates, references, etc.).
Resourcefulness: Ability to "think outside the box" to solve resourcing bottlenecks in remote field locations.
