Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and proactive Safety / HSE Officer to join our team in Lagos. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing workplace health and safety protocols to ensure a hazard-free environment. You will lead the charge in risk assessment, safety training, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that all operations align with both national standards and international best practices.

The ideal candidate is a certified safety professional with a strong technical background in ISO standards and a proven track record of promoting a robust safety culture within an organization.

Requirements:

Safety Oversight & Risk Management

• Hazard Identification: Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential workplace hazards and implement immediate corrective actions.

• Risk Assessment: Perform comprehensive risk assessments for all operational activities and develop mitigation strategies.

• Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of any workplace accidents or near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures.

Compliance & Standards

• Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all company activities comply with Nigerian safety laws and international HSE regulations.

• ISO Implementation: Maintain and drive compliance with ISO certifications and quality management systems across the facility.

• HSE Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of safety logs, training certificates, and equipment inspections to ensure audit readiness.

Training & Culture

• Safety Education: Organize and facilitate regular safety inductions, toolbox talks, and specialized HSE training for all staff.

• Culture Advocacy: Promote a proactive "safety-first" culture, encouraging employees to take ownership of their personal safety and that of their colleagues.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Professional Status

• Degree: BSc or HND in a relevant field.

• Professional Membership: Valid ISPON (Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria) membership.

• Certifications: NEBOSH and/or IOSH certification is mandatory.

• ISO Standards: Possession of relevant ISO Certifications.

Experience & Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in an HSE/Safety role.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial safety protocols, fire safety, and emergency response procedures.

• Communication: Excellent reporting skills with the ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to diverse teams.
