Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Tax Accountant to manage our corporate tax affairs and ensure full compliance with Nigerian fiscal regulations. You will serve as the company’s primary advisor on tax-related matters, resolving tax issues, optimizing tax positions, and mitigating risk. The ideal candidate is a finance professional who combines deep technical knowledge of Nigerian tax law with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Requirements:
Tax Compliance: Manage the preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines and statutory requirements.
Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve tax-related disputes, audit queries, and assessments from tax authorities (FIRS, State Revenue Boards, etc.).
Advisory: Provide sound, data-backed advice to senior management on tax implications regarding business decisions, new projects, or operational changes.
Planning & Optimization: Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation to ensure the company remains compliant and identifies legitimate opportunities for tax efficiency.
Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all tax filings, correspondence, and internal financial records relevant to tax audits.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: A solid background in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
Experience: 6–8 years of proven experience in tax accounting or a related corporate finance role.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Nigerian tax laws, including CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, and current Finance Act requirements.
Key Competencies:
Analytical Ability: Strong numerical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data for tax reporting.
Problem-Solving: Proven track record in handling and resolving complex tax assessments or disputes.
Professional Integrity: High level of ethical judgment and attention to detail.
Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical tax matters to non-finance stakeholders.
