Job Description:

Intersex Nigeria is seeking a meticulous and ethically grounded Finance Assistant to support the financial health of our organization. Working directly with the Finance Officer and Finance Manager, you will be a key guardian of our transparency and accountability standards. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who excels at maintaining accurate "audit-ready" records, managing donor-specific budgets, and ensuring every Naira spent aligns with our mission and compliance policies. Requirements:

1. Financial Accounting & Records Management

  • Transaction Integrity: Record daily expenditures, receipts, and financial activities into accounting systems with high numerical accuracy.

  • Voucher Governance: Prepare and process payment vouchers, ensuring all disbursements have proper authorization and supporting documentation.

  • Reconciliation & Tracking: Support monthly bank reconciliations and track cash flow to ensure the organization’s liquidity is accurately reflected.

2. Budgeting & Grant Compliance

  • Project Budgeting: Assist program teams in preparing project-specific budgets that align with donor requirements and organizational goals.

  • Expenditure Monitoring: Track real-time spending against approved budgets to prevent overspends and ensure funds are utilized for their intended purpose.

  • Donor Reporting: Assist in drafting transparent financial reports for management and international donors, highlighting impact and fiscal responsibility.

3. Internal Controls & Operations

  • Policy Enforcement: Support the implementation of financial control systems to prevent the misuse of funds and ensure compliance with Intersex Nigeria’s internal policies.

  • Audit Readiness: Assist in updating finance manuals and maintaining secure digital and physical filing systems for internal and external audits.

  • Cross-Functional Synergy: Liaise with program staff to streamline financial planning and provide guidance on financial procedures to partners and team members.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Professional Background

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting.

  • Tenure: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a strong preference for candidates from the Non-Profit (NGO) or Development sector.

  • Software Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage). Familiarity with Zoho is a significant advantage.

  • Grant Management: Solid understanding of donor compliance requirements and the nuances of grant-based accounting.

  • Numerical Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail in data entry and financial reporting.

  • Ethics & Integrity: Absolute commitment to confidentiality, transparency, and the values of inclusion.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data to support proactive decision-making.
