Job Description:

We are seeking a meticulous and high-integrity Graduate Accountant to manage our daily financial operations. In this role, you will be the guardian of our financial data, overseeing everything from fixed assets and payroll to tax compliance and general ledger management. Your primary mission is to ensure that our financial records are 100% accurate, our statutory filings are on time, and our management has the data needed to remain profitable. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate looking to build a career in a structured financial environment while working close to home.

Requirements:

1. General Ledger & Transactional Accuracy

• Bookkeeping Mastery: Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments, ensuring every kobo is accounted for.

• Reconciliation: Conduct weekly and monthly reconciliations of bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to maintain ledger integrity.

• Asset & Vendor Management: Process supplier invoices, track outstanding payments, and maintain an up-to-date fixed asset register.

2. Tax Compliance & Statutory Filings

• Tax Computation: Assist in computing and preparing returns for VAT, WHT, CIT, and PAYE to ensure the company remains penalty-free.

• Audit Readiness: Organize and prepare all relevant documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring a seamless verification process.

• Payroll Processing: Collaborate with HR to ensure staff salaries, benefits, and statutory deductions (Pension, NHF, etc.) are processed with absolute precision.

3. Financial Reporting & Insights

• Statement Preparation: Assist in the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow.

• Budgeting & Variance Analysis: Support management in monitoring annual budgets and identifying variances that require corrective action.

• Cost Efficiency: Monitor operational expenses to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved financial efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Experience

• Academic: B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience: 0–1 year of experience (internships or NYSC experience in an accounting role is a plus).

• Location: Candidates must reside within Surulere or its immediate environs for ease of commute and operational efficiency.

Technical & Soft Skills

• Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (essential) and exposure to accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero.

• Detail Orientation: An obsessive eye for accuracy and the ability to spot discrepancies in large datasets.

• Integrity: The ability to handle sensitive financial data with total confidentiality and honesty.

• Principles: Solid foundational knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or IFRS.
