Job Description:
We are seeking a precise and proactive Accountant to manage the financial health of our real estate operations in Abuja. This role goes beyond basic bookkeeping; you will be the custodian of project-specific financial data, responsible for tracking the profitability of property sales, leases, and maintenance investments.
You will play a vital role in ensuring regulatory compliance and fiscal discipline by managing the general ledger, preparing tax returns, and supporting the development of budgets for high-value real estate projects. Requirements:
1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management
Reporting Excellence: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that track the firm's growth and performance.
Ledger Integrity: Manage all general ledger and journal entries, performing rigorous monthly reconciliations to ensure 100% data accuracy.
Cash Flow Stewardship: Monitor daily cash inflows and outflows, ensuring the liquidity required for ongoing property operations and corporate needs.
2. Real Estate Project Accounting & Budgeting
Project Monitoring: Record and verify complex transactions related to property acquisitions, sales, leases, and facility maintenance costs.
Budgetary Architecture: Support the development of forecasts and monitor actual spend against budgets for specific real estate developments.
Asset Tracking: Maintain detailed records of property-related expenses to provide a clear view of the Return on Investment (ROI) for individual assets.
3. Compliance, Tax & Audit Readiness
Tax Governance: Assist in the preparation of tax returns (VAT, WHT, CIT), ensuring strict adherence to Nigerian tax laws and FIRS/FCT-IRS regulations.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all financial processes comply with IFRS standards and internal company policies.
Audit Leadership: Organize financial records and prepare supporting documentation to ensure smooth and successful internal and external audits.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 1–2 years of professional accounting experience. Prior experience in the Real Estate or Property Management sector is highly preferred.
Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Tally.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian financial principles, tax regulations, and accounting standards.
