Job Description:
Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary management representative to NCS, NPA, NDLEA, SON, NAFDAC, and other statutory bodies to ensure seamless terminal operations.
Compliance Oversight: Enforce strict adherence to all maritime regulations, customs codes, and security standards (ISPS) across the terminal.
Policy Implementation: Design and execute robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and performance standards across all departments.
Terminal Operations & Logistics
Cargo Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire chain of cargo reception, positioning for examination, storage, release, and final exit procedures.
Yard Management: Optimize container stacking, yard utilization, and equipment deployment to maximize throughput.
Incident & Crisis Management: Act as the final point of escalation for operational disputes, cargo claims, and site-level emergencies.
Workforce & Financial Governance
Human Capital: Lead a multi-disciplinary workforce, managing shift rotations, performance reviews, and strict organizational discipline.
Revenue Protection: Drive cost-control measures and implement leakage-prevention strategies to safeguard terminal revenue.
Audit & Reporting: Maintain a high state of audit readiness through accurate documentation and daily performance reporting to executive management.
Requirements:
Regulatory Authority: Expert knowledge of NCS, NPA, and NIMASA regulations.
Operational Planning: Ability to interpret complex KPIs to drive yard efficiency.
Negotiation: Strong stakeholder engagement skills for navigating complex port authority dynamics.
Crisis Leadership: Decisiveness in handling operational downtime or regulatory infractions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: HND or B.Sc. in Maritime Studies, Transport Management, Logistics, or a related discipline.
Experience: 8–12 years of specialized experience in bonded terminal or port operations.
Seniority: Minimum of 3–5 years in a Terminal Manager or Operations Manager role.
Technical Knowledge: Deep, practical understanding of Apapa and Tin Can port systems, NCS procedures (NICIS II), and the terminal release process.
