Job Description:
We are seeking an analytically rigorous, structurally sound, and physically resilient Site / Civil Engineer to lead our infrastructural developments and structural installations within Abuja and its surrounding regions. In this role, you will take full operational responsibility for translating complex engineering blueprints into safe, enduring physical realities.
You will bridge the gap between high-level structural design and rugged, on-site field execution. This role demands an engineer who can calculate loads and analyze structural feasibility in the office, and seamlessly pivot to commanding concrete pours, enforcing safety codes at extreme heights, and maintaining uncompromising oversight over sub-contractors on the construction field.
Requirements:
1. Structural Engineering & Feasibility Analysis
Design & Stress Verification: Execute and review structural designs, load calculations, and technical specifications, ensuring all architectural frameworks meet international and national engineering standards.
Geotechnical & Site Appraisals: Conduct comprehensive site inspections, topographies, soil mechanics evaluations, and technical feasibility studies prior to critical installation phases.
Maintenance & Retrofitting: Diagnose structural integrity issues, continuous wear-and-tear, or settling anomalies in existing buildings; design and execute mathematically sound retrofitting and reinforcement solutions.
2. On-Site Project Management & Contractor Oversight
Installation Mastery: Supervise critical construction phases—including earthworks, foundation casting, piling, and structural steel framing setups—ensuring precise alignment with engineering coordinates.
Sub-Contractor Governance: Oversee on-site contractors, masons, and technicians, auditing their work velocities and craftsmanship to ensure zero deviation from project blueprints and material specifications.
Resource Optimization: Manage daily material allocations, track concrete mix ratios, oversee heavy machinery deployments, and minimize resource wastage to keep projects within baseline budgets.
3. Safety Governance, Compliance & Quality Assurance
HSE Enforcement: Establish and champion rigid Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols on-site, conducting routine safety drills and ensuring 100% compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) regulations.
Structural Auditing: Conduct strict quality control checks on raw construction materials (reinforcement bars, cement grades, aggregates) and sign off on technical compliance sheets at each project milestone.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc / B.Eng) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a strictly related built-environment discipline.
Professional Registration: Progression toward or active registration with professional engineering bodies such as COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) or NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers) is highly valued.
Track Record: Verifiable experience operating as a Site Engineer, Structural Analyst, or Civil Project Supervisor on medium-to-large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructural projects.
Technical & Software Competency
Engineering Tool Stack: High proficiency running advanced structural design, drafting, and analysis software packages (e.g., AutoCAD, Orion/Tekla Structural Designer, STAAD.Pro, or Revit Structure).
Project Tracking: Solid understanding of project management principles, material takeoff estimation, and scheduling tools (MS Project or Primavera P6).
Physical Attributes & Working Conditions (Non-Negotiable)
Mobility: Absolute willingness and availability for frequent regional travel to various construction sites outside the Abuja municipal center.
Physical Grit & Altitude Comfort: Must possess the physical fitness, balance, and complete comfort required to work safely at extreme heights on scaffolding, tower structures, and elevated platforms.
Environmental Resilience: Capable of enduring extended, rigorous outdoor work hours under intense heat, heavy downpours, and dusty construction terrains to personally oversee critical installation phases.
