Job Description:

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically rigorous Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering and design department. In this role, you will be the core technical authority responsible for the structural integrity, safety, and stability of diverse building and infrastructure projects. You will translate architectural visions into secure, code-compliant, and executable structural systems through advanced mathematical modeling, stress analysis, and precise detailing.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer who combines a deep mastery of structural mechanics with fluency in modern Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows and holds a passion for cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements:

Structural Analysis & Engineering Design

  • Advanced Computation: Perform comprehensive structural analysis and load calculations (dead, live, wind, and seismic loads) for complex concrete, steel, and masonry structures.

  • Systems Modeling: Utilize industry-standard software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or RAM Structural System to build high-fidelity 3D structural models and simulate real-world stress distributions.

  • Specification Drafting: Develop detailed structural plans, reinforcement schedules, connection details, and material specifications in strict accordance with relevant local and international building codes.

Multidisciplinary Coordination & BIM Workflow

  • Design Integration: Partner closely with architects, civil engineers, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) specialists to integrate structural components seamlessly into the master project design.

  • BIM & CAD Execution: Generate and review 3D structural models and production drawings within BIM environments to minimize field clashes and optimization gaps.

Construction Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Shop Drawing Review: Evaluate, validate, and sign off on structural shop drawings, fabrication blueprints, and material submittals generated by contractors and steel fabricators.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Collaborate with site project managers, construction crews, and external clients to resolve real-time design anomalies, RFI submissions, and structural challenges on-site.

  • Process Evolution: Keep abreast of evolving building codes, material sciences, and innovative construction techniques to continually optimize the firm's structural design templates.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Licensing

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree or HND in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.

  • Professional Licensure: Possession of a Professional Engineering license (e.g., COREN registration in Nigeria, P.E., or equivalent) or a clear, immediate track to achieving registration within a short timeframe.

Technical Experience & Software Fluency

  • Seniority: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in structural design engineering, with a verifiable portfolio of mid-to-high-rise buildings or major infrastructure projects.

  • Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in structural analysis tools (ETABS, SAP2000, Orion, or RAM) alongside mastery of CAD drafting and BIM platforms (such as Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD).

  • Material Mechanics: Deep, functional comprehension of concrete detailing, structural steel design, foundation systems (shallow and deep pile foundations), and load-path optimization.

Core Soft Skills

  • Analytical Thinking: Elite problem-solving capacity with a high degree of precision and attention to detail.

  • Communication: Strong technical writing and verbal skills, with the ability to explain complex engineering mechanics to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
