Job Description:

Role Overview:

  • The Project Management Director (PMD) is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end construction delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on.
  • renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro) and natural gas/flexibility assets (LNG, CCGT, IPP) developments.
  • The role oversees all aspects of project design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • As a strategic and operational leader, the Project Director ensures that all projects are accurately designed with zero error margin, delivered on time, within the designed scope, on budget, and in full compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • The role also provides technical leadership in project feasibility, concept development, and stakeholder coordination from pre-financial Close through Commercial Operation Date and operations transfer.

Key Area of Focus
Detailed Project Engineering Design & Development:

  • Detailed project engineering design with 100% accuracy of designs at all times, project implementation and construction to ensure the least capital and subsequent operating costs with effective post-commissioning performance.
  • Project management and reporting.
  • Coordinate all activities from detailed engineering design to implementation, including RFP (request for proposals) and EPC selection processes

 Project Execution & Construction:

  • Manage EPC contractors and provide supervisory oversight to our in-house firm (BuildAngle) and ensure construction milestones are achieved a designed and contracted.
  • Supervise contractor performance and quality assurance/control procedures.
  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance on-site.

Budget & Schedule Management:

  •  Develop and manage project budgets and delivery schedules.
  •  Mitigate project risks and resolve delays, scope changes, and cost overruns.
  •  Report regularly to EVP Technical Services and other stakeholders on project KPIs.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaise with utilities, regulatory agencies, investors, and government bodies.
  • Ensure effective communication and transparency to all project stakeholders.
  • Support local content and community engagement program.
  • Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Certifications: Project Management, such as PMP®, Prince2®, or equivalent

Requirements:

  • Experience: 15+ years at director-level roles in detailed electrical engineering designs and project management expertise in the construction of large high-voltage
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering. A master’s degree is an advantage in transmission lines, medium and low voltage electrical experience, and large Solar PV
  • Farms and large Gas-Fired Power Plants across multiple locations in Africa. An individual must have experience working with large-scale EPC project execution activities, knowledge of contract negotiation and project financial oversight, and critical
  • Sector Focus: Demonstrated experience with utility-scale renewable and gas infrastructure projects in developing/emerging markets
  • Geographic Mobility: Willingness to work in diverse geographies with extended travel as needed, with strong leadership in a multicultural project environment.
