Job Description:

We are seeking a highly disciplined and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our clinical team in Lagos. This role is essential to our hospital’s pharmaceutical operations, requiring a professional who can operate with absolute precision in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. You will be responsible for the accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, managing critical inventory, and supporting clinical workflows across specialized units including the ER and ICU.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical foundation in pharmaceutical mathematics and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety through rigorous quality control.

Requirements:

Medication Preparation & Dispensing

  • Order Fulfillment: Accurately fill medication orders for various hospital units, ensuring all prescriptions meet the specific needs of emergency and intensive care patients.

  • Sterile Compounding: Prepare sterile compounds, including IV bags, chemotherapy medications, and pediatric dosages, strictly adhering to aseptic techniques.

  • Labeling & Safety: Clearly label all medications with precise patient names, dosages, and expiry dates to prevent errors.

Inventory & Logistics Management

  • Stock Maintenance: Proactively restock Automated Dispensing Cabinets and monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages.

  • Urgent Delivery: Facilitate the immediate delivery of "stat" medications to nursing stations or operating rooms upon request.

  • Quality Audits: Regularly check for expired drugs and manage the removal and documentation of obsolete stock.

Clinical & Administrative Support

  • Data Integrity: Enter patient data and prescription details into electronic health records (EHR) with high accuracy.

  • Medication Reconciliation: Support the clinical team by gathering comprehensive patient medication histories during the admission process.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field.

    • Mandatory: Pharmacy Technician Certification and valid state registration or licensing.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on work experience within a hospital setting.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Mastery of medical terminology and pharmaceutical mathematics for complex dosage calculations.

    • Advanced proficiency in electronic health record systems.

Salary

₦150,000 - ₦200,000/month
