Job Description:

MTN is seeking a high-caliber Brand Manager to lead the strategic development and execution of our Value-Added Services (VAS), Mobile Financial Services (MFS), and National Consumer Promotions. In this role, you will be the lead architect behind the communication strategies that drive product adoption and secure mental leadership in the minds of our customers. You will manage the brand’s equity across complex digital and traditional touchpoints, ensuring that every campaign stimulates usage, increases revenue, and reinforces MTN as the network of choice. The ideal candidate is a seasoned strategist with a deep understanding of the Nigerian telco or FMCG landscape and a proven track record of managing top-tier advertising agencies.

Requirements:

1. Strategic Framework & Route-to-Market (RTM)

  • Campaign Governance: Manage the end-to-end strategic framework for VAS and MFS, ensuring all promotions are aligned with business objectives.

  • RTM Execution: Develop robust rollout plans and route-to-market strategies for national consumer promotions to ensure maximum penetration and visibility.

  • Integrated Solutions: Collaborate with VAS and Proposition Managers to conceptualize acquisition and usage-increment campaigns that deliver on both volume and value.

2. Brand Equity & Communication Strategy

  • Mental Leadership: Formulate marketing communication messages that position MTN as a leader in innovation, achieving high brand affinity and top-of-mind awareness.

  • Cause Marketing: Leverage MTN Foundation (MTNF) initiatives to enhance brand equity through digital-led cause marketing and corporate social responsibility campaigns.

  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide professional brand guidance and support to internal functions, including HR, Network Group, IS, and Customer Relations.

3. Agency Management & Operational Compliance

  • Creative Supervision: Lead and supervise multiple advertising agencies in the production of high-impact creative materials across TV, Outdoor, Radio, Press, and Digital.

  • CI Stewardship: Enforce strict compliance with MTN’s Brand Corporate Identity (CI) rules across all touchpoints, including POS and merchandising materials.

  • Contract Administration: Manage the end-to-end agency documentation process, including contract formulation, payment processing, and issue resolution.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Professional Standing

  • Academic: Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Economics, or Social Sciences. An MBA is highly advantageous.

  • Certification: Professional qualification from CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and membership in NIM (National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria).

Experience & Competencies

  • Tenure: 6–13 years of total experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

  • Industry IQ: Extensive experience in brand management within the Telecommunications or FMCG sectors.

  • Skill Set: Mastery of brand strategy, positioning, and communication architecture; exceptional stakeholder management skills.
