Job Description:
We are seeking a high-velocity and analytically elite Import Control Officer to anchor the trade-finance engine of our Nigerian operations. In the specialized landscape of Nigerian cross-border commerce, success is defined by "Trade Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize complex regulatory documentation with the clinical precision required for Form M Monitoring, LC Lifecycles, and FX Payment Management. This role is designed for a "Trade Architect" who can blend "Regulatory Grit" (managing LC amendments, extensions, and discrepancy acceptances) with the "Strategic Agility" required to handle non-valid for FX invoices and freight payments.
Requirements:
1. Trade Orchestration & Lifecycle Governance
Form M Sovereignty: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of Form M transactions with millimetric focus, acting as the primary "Source of Import Eligibility."
LC Architecture: Design and monitor the health of Letters of Credit (LC) and Bill for Collection (BC) transactions, providing the "Structural Foundation" for global supplier trust.
Integrity Stewardship: Oversee LC amendments, extensions, and discrepancy acceptances, ensuring the "Source of Contractual Fidelity" is elite and uncompromised.
2. Tactical Resilience & Payment Logic
Settlement Sovereignty: Manage payments for Non-Valid for FX invoices and Freight, acting as the primary "Source of Global Logistics Continuity."
Monitoring Architecture: Track the expiration and validity of all active trade instruments, providing the "Functional Foundation" for uninterrupted cargo inflow.
Discrepancy Stewardship: Resolve complex documentation mismatches in real-time, maintaining the "Source of Transactional Accuracy."
3. Operational Integrity & Performance Power
Stakeholder Sovereignty: Manage relationships with banks, regulators, and internal logistics teams, acting as the primary "Source of Collaborative Velocity."
Reporting Architecture: Provide high-fidelity reports on trade statuses and payment schedules, providing the "Visual Foundation" for treasury and supply-chain planning.
Velocity Logic: Utilize Trade Finance expertise to navigate Central Bank (CBN) and Customs requirements in real-time, maximizing the "Source of Trade Throughput."
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Experience: Proven experience in Import/Export control, Trade Finance, or International Banking within the Nigerian market.
Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of Form M procedures, Letter of Credit (LC) mechanisms, and UCP 600 rules.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in trade-related software, ERP systems, and reporting tools.
Attributes: High level of integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent negotiation skills.
Core Competencies
Regulatory Grit: Ability to navigate complex CBN and Nigerian Customs documentation requirements.
Trade Sovereignty: Excellence in managing the full lifecycle of diverse trade instruments.
Analytical Power: Ability to identify and resolve document discrepancies before they impact the supply chain.
