We are seeking a seasoned Senior HR Manager to serve as the strategic and operational heartbeat of our factory operations. This is a "boots-on-the-ground" leadership role designed for an HR veteran who can navigate the complexities of a large-scale manufacturing workforce while serving as a trusted advisor to factory leadership.

In this position, you will own the entire employee lifecycle—from technical recruitment and performance management to the critical management of industrial relations and union negotiations. If you possess the grit to handle the daily demands of a production environment and the strategic foresight to build a high-performance culture, we invite you to lead our people operations.

Requirements:

1. Industrial Relations & Union Governance

  • Labor Diplomacy: Lead collective bargaining and union negotiations, ensuring a proactive and harmonious relationship between management and organized labor.

  • Dispute Resolution: Manage complex employee grievances and industrial disputes, ensuring compliance with Nigerian labor laws and factory standards.

  • Risk Mitigation: Anticipate potential labor disruptions and implement strategies to maintain continuous factory operations.

2. Talent & Performance Optimization

  • Technical Recruitment: Oversee the sourcing and selection of both skilled technical staff and general labor, ensuring the factory is consistently staffed to meet production targets.

  • Performance Management: Drive a culture of accountability by implementing performance appraisal systems tailored to a manufacturing environment.

  • Capacity Building: Identify skill gaps and deploy technical and soft-skill training programs to enhance workforce productivity and safety.

3. Workforce Engagement & Compliance

  • Safety & Welfare: Collaborate with HSE teams to ensure a safe working environment and manage employee welfare initiatives to drive high engagement.

  • Policy Enforcement: Implement and monitor HR policies, ensuring 100% compliance with factory regulations and statutory requirements.

  • Leadership Advisory: Provide hands-on HR support to factory managers, assisting with workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: HND/BSc in Business, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is a distinct advantage).

  • Certification: Mandatory CIPM or other recognized professional HR certification (e.g., PHRi, SHRM).

  • Experience: 10–12 years of progressive HR experience, with a significant portion spent in a manufacturing or factory environment.

Core Competencies

  • Union Mastery: Proven track record in successful union negotiations and deep knowledge of Industrial Relations (IR).

  • Manufacturing IQ: Understanding of the shift-based work environment, factory labor dynamics, and technical workforce requirements.

  • Communication: Exceptional negotiation, mediation, and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels—from the factory floor to the boardroom.
