Job Description:

We are seeking a visionary and technically astute Group Head, Operations to lead the operational heart of our bank. Based in Abuja, this executive role is responsible for the design and execution of a world-class operations strategy that balances clinical efficiency with a superior customer experience.

You will be the architect of our mortgage processing engine, ensuring that branch operations are seamless, internal controls are impenetrable, and regulatory compliance is absolute. This role is for a transformation leader—someone who can drive digital automation while navigating the complexities of CBN, NDIC, and FMBN regulations to position the bank as a leader in the Nigerian mortgage sector.

Requirements:

1. Operational Strategy & Mortgage Processing Excellence

  • Strategy Execution: Develop and implement the overarching operations roadmap, aligning branch activities with the bank’s long-term growth and cost-efficiency targets.

  • Mortgage Lifecycle Management: Optimize the end-to-end mortgage processing value chain—from application and underwriting support to perfection and disbursement—to reduce Turnaround Time (TAT).

  • Service Delivery: Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across all operational units to ensure a premium customer-centric experience.

2. Risk Management, Governance & Compliance

  • Regulatory Stewardship: Ensure 100% compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NDIC, and Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) guidelines.

  • Internal Controls: Strengthen the operational risk framework, proactively managing audit remediation and ensuring that internal controls are robust enough to mitigate fraud and operational failures.

  • Business Continuity: Design and lead the bank’s Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) protocols to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

3. Digital Transformation & Process Automation

  • Automation Leadership: Identify opportunities for digital transformation within mortgage operations, reducing manual dependencies and enhancing data accuracy.

  • Cost Efficiency: Drive operational lean initiatives to optimize overheads and improve the bank’s cost-to-income ratio.

  • Data Integrity: Oversee the bank’s core banking application (CBA) operations, ensuring the reliability and security of financial data and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Professional Excellence

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • Post-Graduate: An MBA or M.Sc. is highly preferred.

  • Certifications: Membership in CIBN, ICAN, ANAN, or relevant Risk/Operations bodies is a significant advantage.

Leadership Experience

  • Track Record: 12–15 years of progressive experience in banking operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.

  • Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of mortgage-specific operations and the Nigerian regulatory landscape.
