Job Description:
We are seeking a high-potential Accounts Graduate Trainee to join our finance team in Lekki Phase 1. In the heart of Lagos's premium business district, accuracy and financial integrity are the benchmarks of success. This role is designed for a "Numerical Architect in Training", a fresh graduate or early-career professional (0–1 year experience) eager to master the complexities of corporate bookkeeping, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
Your mission is to support the "Engine Room" of our finance department. You will be responsible for assisting senior accounts personnel in daily transaction processing, bank reconciliations, and the maintenance of ledgers. Requirements:
1. Transactional Integrity & Bookkeeping
General Ledger Support: Assist in recording daily financial transactions, ensuring all entries are backed by verifiable invoices and receipts.
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Support the tracking of vendor payments and client billings to ensure healthy cash flow cycles.
Data Entry Excellence: Maintain the accuracy of financial databases, ensuring that digital records mirror physical documentation perfectly.
2. Reconciliation & Compliance Support
Bank Reconciliation: Work alongside senior staff to reconcile bank statements with internal ledgers, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
Tax Coordination: Assist in the preparation of statutory filings, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and PAYE, ensuring the firm remains "Audit-Ready."
Petty Cash Management: Oversee and document minor office expenditures, ensuring strict adherence to the company's disbursement policies.
3. Financial Reporting & Analysis
Reporting Assistance: Help gather data for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Budget Tracking: Support the monitoring of departmental budgets, highlighting variances to senior management.
Document Governance: Manage the systematic filing of all financial records (digital and physical) to ensure seamless retrieval during audits.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Candidates must possess a B.Sc Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 0 – 1 year of experience (National Youth Service Corps - NYSC experience is highly valued).
Location: Must be able to work full-time in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Core Competencies
Numerical Grit: A strong affinity for numbers and a high level of attention to detail.
Software Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and a willingness to learn accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or SAP).
