Job Description:

  • Sugar Instinct Cakes is expanding its operations into Abuja and is preparing to establish a fully functional bakery production facility to serve a growing customer base.
  • As an already established brand, this expansion requires a highly experienced, commercially driven, and entrepreneurial Bakery Manager to lead the successful setup and operationalization of the Abuja production hub. 
  • This role is critical to transitioning Sugar Instinct Cakes from concept to a fully operational, revenue-generating bakery business.

 

The Bakery Manager will:

  • Lead the end-to-end setup of the Abuja bakery factory
  • Establish operational systems and production standards aligned with existing brand quality
  • Recruit, train, and structure the Abuja production team
  • Develop product standardization and quality control processes
  • Oversee pre-launch and post-launch operational management
  • Drive local market penetration and revenue growth in Abuja.

 

Key Responsibilities
Factory Setup & Pre-Operational Phase:

  • Lead planning and physical setup of the bakery production facility
  • Advise on equipment selection, procurement, and installation
  • Design kitchen layout for optimal workflow efficiency
  • Develop SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for all production activities
  • Establish supplier relationships for raw materials and packaging
  • Obtain necessary regulatory and food safety compliance approvals
  • Develop initial production and costing models.

 

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily production operations
  • Supervise bakers, decorators, and support staff
  • Ensure product consistency and quality control
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage stock efficiently
  • Implement hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards
  • Track production costs and reduce waste.

 

Team Recruitment & Training:

  • Support recruitment of bakers and production staff
  • Conduct training on product standards and workflows
  • Create performance monitoring systems
  • Foster a culture of excellence and accountability.

 

Financial & Performance Management:

  • Develop monthly production targets
  • Ensure minimal production wastage
  • Provide monthly operational reports to management.

 

Marketing & Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management on Abuja market entry strategy
  • Support product positioning and pricing strategy for the Abuja market
  • Develop promotional production plans for peak seasons and campaigns
  • Work closely with social media/marketing teams to align production with campaigns
  • Identify partnership opportunities (event planners, corporate clients, hospitality brands)
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement product improvement strategies
  • Support revenue growth targets through operational efficiency and innovation.
